Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey me”, That obedience is a reflection of our faith, and love for Jesus, not an obligation, because of fear of going to hell Before I got saved I tried to do good works out of FEAR of going to hell. Now that I am saved I do good works out of LOVE for my savior and not out of FEAR. You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by the law; you have fallen from grace. Galatians 5:4 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy he saved us. Titus 3:5 Yet we know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ , so we also,have believed in, Christ Jesus , in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no man will be justified.
