@joge2468 so then the question is are those tribes the distinct from their Nordic cousins or are they the same ethnicity? You can't have it both ways. Even if the Normans and Danes are what you call "minor admixture" they still come both come from a very distinct ethnic background. thus, when they intermarry with the local English inhabitants that makes them English correct? or are they still Normans in danes? what eventually made them English is primarily cultural that is they all came to inhabit the same space and develop and share the same language and Customs English has never been an ethnic term because different groups of people have come to England and have therefore become English such such as the Dutch or Huguenot's in the 17th century. Therefore England and what it means to be English are made up of multiple ethnicities. It is therefore a term in reference to nationality

@joge2468 The West Germanic people do not share the same language and culture as the native Britons When they first arrived. Additionally those are two separate ethnic groups and therefore the ethnonym English does not apply to both of them Then we come to additional problems With ethnicity such as when The Nordic population moved into Northern England and established Dane law, Or when the kingdom of England was first established by the Normans. Your term for English does not apply To ethnicity in any of these cases.

@joge2468 all the 12 tribes of the Jews are descended from Abraham. they all have a common ancestor we can trace back to hence they are an ethnic group Distinct Gene pools are very rare. In some homogeneous societies both nationality and ethnicity are mostly the same thing such as in Sweden or Finland. But even there they are not completely one gene pool. So it's sometimes hard to tell, and this is where the confusion arises especially with modern consciousness of a Society .people who come from where you're coming from naturally assume that being English consists of Anglo-Saxon and Britain ethnic groups, when in fact it's actually much more complex than that. you are not any less of an Englishman just because you have Irish Gaelic or Scottish Gaelic ancestry any more then a person is less French because they don't have frankish ancestry. These are not homogeneous societies

@joge2468 please elaborate how "English"is an ethnicity and not a nationality. I would love to hear this

@joge2468 your defining English ethnicity within a very narrow scope of exclusively Anglo-Saxon and Briton mixtures. why? because this is when the concept of being English first emerges in a general public consciousness. which in turn means that it is a national concept of common language and customs, not an ethnic one. Otherwise, the point in which you describe an English ethnicity coming to existence is merely an arbitrary one. that's the point I'm making

@joge2468 the mixing together of two sets of DNA from two different ethnic groups doesn't automatically create a new ethnic group. that's why it's arbitrary for you to randomly assert one through this process.

All the losers here agreeing with what Konstantin is saying are the same ones that said Bukayo Saka wasn't English. Wrong skin color
