That would be a one sided veiw of slavery that is very beneficial to western Europeans

@chrismckell5353 in school, the point about learning about slavery is to learn about it in the American context. It's not one sided its the hard truth
4
@FairHairMaidenofTheWest of course l, we should learn more about history outside of America. The point is how much, because there's so much out there. Also, why is slavery the impetus to learn about other cultures outside the US? Its very convenient for many white folks, especially conservatives, who now wanna use this as an excuse to lessen the responsibility they share towards the legacy of slavery in the west

@rclrd1 Its beneficial because by saying it happened everywhere, he's essentially saying it's the same everywhere, which isn't historically true. Ppl on the right are calling for history to be taught, yet also want to misrepresent history to their benifit

@MystfireStudio bro without buyers a market for sth doesn't exist. What are you trying to argue here?

@henrytep8884 I agree. That's the position I fall on as well so I'm not sure why ppl want to learn about slavery globally

@bradleyboyer9979 how is everyone else dumb

@triggerpod there are other sources you can acquaint yourself with to be more knowledgeable on slavery in general other than thomas sewell. I don't think being a conservative "intellectual" is a good qualifier for you to think you know about a particular issue. You can do better

This issue again? And to make it worse, Konstantin has gone along with the same conservative talking points thomas sewell uses. Its crazy how many people he's misinformed because of partisanship.Why are conservatives in the west so obsessed with trying to lessen the responsibility the West has in relation to this topic?

@iammicah895 don't listen to this guy 😂😂

@OneEyedKeys all these other types of slavery are deflections so that conservatives dont have to talk about sth

@MystfireStudio no. Only the buyers, unfortunately for you the white settlers in the Americas, are liable for the TREATMENT of slaves. Both can be liable for slavery in general but the uncomfortable truth for ppl like you is Africans had very different standards to treating slaves. That's the difference btw slavery practiced in Africa, and chattel slavery practiced in the Americas. There is no way Africans would have known about the exent fo the brutality in the treatment of black slaves in the Americas. The racial aspect is a big reason why it was so brutal in the Americas. You can't ignore that just because it's uncomfortable for you. You claim to want to teach history, yet you also prioritise misrepresenting the truth of history

@Lala Emm do you even know which countries slavery exist today? Or you heard that from your favourite conservative talking host?
