It was actually an ordinary person in a Russian submarine who made the final call to not do a nuclear strike during the Cuban missile crisis, so hopefully the person who is commanded to send out the nukes refuses to personally cross that line once again. One ordinary person using their own judgment and refusing to carry out a bad order is why there even is a human race still today

  5. Russia either cuts its losses or buries itself (and possibly the rest of us with them). Even if they WERE to defeat Ukraine, maintaining that territory in the longterm might be even more damaging to them than their current expenditures

It's not like anyone would take the assassination of one of their leaders sitting down, even if it was a bad leader. Then again, look what Trump did to Iran's general, with no (serious) retaliation (thus far)
