I love how the nerds who never played or watched any sports and were bullied in their school years for being such buzzkill dorks are lecturing fucking professional athletes about them not being manly enough. What is even the deal with this fixation on what is and isn't manly all the time? You gay, bro? Would the NHL be more appealing for you to watch if they all had their shirts off so you can look at their rippling abs so you can see precisely how manly they are to your satisfaction?

  4. I think it's not really about what's "manly", but having institutions and pillars of society that project the virtues of brutality and violence, which is what fascists crave. They want barbarism disguised in the veil of righteousness. They want new Crusades and purges of heretics. They conflate patriarchy and toxic masculinity as masculinity itself. To them, men are not manly unless women are subjugated to them. Their imagination is limited on how a man can even be a man in any other way, they can't figure out how one can even feel like a man of worth in an egalitarian world. And if that truly were the case, what men contribute must be so pathetically limited to the point of being redundant, if their muscle mass and aggression is all they're worth... The violence-brained are terrified of the power of non-violence as a viable path forward. Rejecting the stupidity and self-destruction of violence is "feminine". Now the brutes have to put their clubs down and use their logic and emotions for the first time, and that is scary to them; they don't want to have to adjust to something they aren't used to, they would rather keep clubbing since that's their only pride and joy, feeling dominance and superiority over others instead of lifting others up
