I used to be against reparations at first because it had crazy people like Gazi Kodzo repping it as my primary exposure to the movement for it, but now I am of the position that it wouldn't hurt for the government to make more of a proactive effort to come to grips with its past and making up for it, and many governments have done reparations or other similar efforts to make amends officially. America's even made some concessions towards Native Americans, although not nearly enough there either, and it's insulting when they skimp out. The failures of Reconstruction and not putting the work in to maintain it longterm after the Civil War is the source of many racial tensions continuing even into present day, the government needs to quit being so lazy on this
