  1. Why? Because China thinks they own everything, of course. Sounds like the more recent Treaty of San Francisco means Japan should give the islands over to Taiwan though, and Taiwan just didn't say anything because they didn't want to rock the boat with the US. Also, Taiwan (the Republic of China) is the true China, mainland China got occupied by a political takeover of whackjobs (the "PEOPLE'S" Republic of China). Once the PRC inevitably collapses and Taiwan/RoC takes authority back over the mainland and reinstates itself as the one and only de facto China it was always supposed to be, then the Senkaku Islands can go to China (Taiwan) as the Treaty of San Francisco outlined
