The struggle for resources for those at the bottom and the uncaring corruption of those at the top is a tale of humanity universal across every civilization in history. Then just add increasing class/wage disparity, war tensions, changing climate, and disease into the mix, and it is little wonder why things aren't very stable right now. But I guess it's a wonder that these complex systems have not toppled from the burden already. If you think Japan or America has it bad, just look at how the people of China or Africa live, we look spoiled compared to them. Those people can take endless punishment, with no hope in sight, so the human soul is really more resilient than we realize

What does Japan do if they cannot find the candidates they are looking for? Sounds like they are in increasingly less of a position to afford to be picky. Ironically, this applies to finding love itself as well

Sounds like the difference between expanding social circles of acquaintances vs. highly bonded and efficient cliques. This applies to friendships at the individual level as well as how you run a company. Some companies like to keep their staff small for good reason, but it can also be stifling

It's quite simple, if people's employment only ever pays them just enough for themselves to survive, they cannot do much to assure the survival of anyone else. They need to be paid amounts that can support not just the one person, but to sustain an entire household. There needs to be a new age of plentiful bounty, not stinginess of the owner class paying only the most minimal pittance they can get away with. And that owner class will not give up their hoarded resources willingly, so they either must be MADE to do so unwillingly, or incentives must be made for them to play ball and do the right thing for the sake of the greater good. Societal cooperation should be rewarded and incentivized, antisocial greed discouraged and punished
