I appreciate you taking an empathetic point of view towards this person and admitting that, yeah, nobody is above wanting more free time. I really would like to know if any of the TV networks besides Fox News have ever aired stuff this predatory and low class though. Fox News does exploitative low blows like this on a regular basis, barely even news a lot of the time. If they are all "just as bad", it should be just as easy to find some examples, no? Seriously, CNN and MSNBC don't resort to this sort of thing, and if they did they'd never get away with it like Fox News does. They literally admit in court that Tucker Carlson isn't news but entertainment and that "no reasonable person would take him seriously". There was one little comparable legal incident like that with Rachel Maddow, but just looking at TV news across the board, Fox News is the outlier by miles.
Also, the guy in chat who said the interviewer literally reads for a living, kudos to you lol. Walking dogs at least requires physical labor and communication with often uncooperative non-English speaking creatures. The interviewer's disdain for teaching as a profession was also apparent, and most teachers in our education system don't have super prolific careers that make them "have something to teach" as that guy was implying they needed to be worthy of the profession. If that was a requirement, the vast majority of teachers would be fired. How many history teachers are actual historians? How many science teachers were actual scientists? And philosophy as Doreen wanted is the stereotypical useless field, but how many philosophers are happy well put together people? Edgar Allan Poe was a depressed drunk, and his writing is some of the best and most thought-provoking. Looking down at philosophy as a field of study is to almost say that it shouldn't exist and isn't worth knowing about. Would anybody say the same about people who work with sewage, or theater, or writing, or artists? Every modern civilization needs all these sorts of people.
