  7. Life is full of self-perpetuating ideas that spread like a virus. It's imbued in the very language and culture, it's within ourselves and also all around ourselves, so it's hard not to get swept up in the tides of all the memes and stereotypes.

  9. It is possible for a logical thought process to take a labyrinthine path to a wrong conclusion, and an emotional thought process to take a straightforward path to a correct conclusion. We just have to be on guard for when either mode of thought misleads us through tricks that seem sensible but actually selectively omit information. And really, it's one mode, not two.; logic and emotion are intertangled, since logic is based on subjective self-serving opinion-based value judgments such as "human life is valuable and ought to be preserved" when that is unverifiable conjecture, yet we must act anyway under that supposition. Even logic is based on the opinionated nature of "X is good" or "X is bad". The emotion and bias of those ideas, convictions really, is formed long before the logic ever does.
