It's about normalizing it instead of hiding it away and demonizing it. If it's legal, it should also be seen as normal and equal to heterosexual on-screen kissing, no? Charlie Kirk's problem with it is only that other cultures and lifestyles he's not comfortable with are being depicted as normal, because his religious traditionalism and zealotry allows no such diversity. I'm amazed he isn't calling for Aladdin to be cancelled because it depicts Muslim people in a non-shaming way. And yes, Charlie Kirk is engaging in cancel culture right now.
America is a diverse country and has been since before it was even its own country, and yet Charlie's theocratic ideology is opposed to diversity, which makes him and those like him basically anti-America, anti-American values, anti-freedom of speech, anti-freedom of thought, anti-pursuit of happiness. Charlie's mindset is the one that has no place in the culture of this country, not gay people who are simply living their lives and not pushing their doctrines/sensibilities onto anybody.
What Disney is doing here is freedom of speech, no? They can send whatever message they want to kids, just like Charlie can and does. It doesn't even matter if other groups of thought find it insidious. There are folks who would argue Charlie's message to children is insidious, and yet he is still allowed to do it because this is a free secular country called America. They talk about indoctrination of kids, when they themselves do it, that's what religion relies on as a mechanism to survive for as long as it has despite having no real bearing on the world in any practical sense. It's outlived its usefulness, which is why the religiously minded are having such a confused backlash at their decreasing relevance in today's society. Their grip on society will only continue to decrease, but not without their desperate death throes making it as miserable and slow and tedious a death as possible.
