I think I know which one committed the worse crime. Hint: the worse crime is the one that's actually illegal. Maybe the dad was the one betraying his family by getting them involved with his deranged lunatic crimes and expecting them to aid and abet him? Maybe you aren't properly fulfilling your role as a father by doing things that have you wind up in jail unable to support your family, and in fact becoming a burden for them? Maybe you shouldn't even put your own son in that position, the heartbreaking moral dilemma of having to choose between being a co-conspirator to a crime or having to say goodbye to your dad, because your dad went ahead and already jumped off the edge of sanity.
