  2. Let me ask you this. Lets move on 80 years down the line to ww2. Do you think Eisenhower gave Patton the first black driver ever to be progressive and because he thought it would be the missing thing and crack the German lines. Or do you think he did it because he knew his friend was a child of confederates and he was trying to provide him with handicap? Do you think Eisenhower knew that the guy he selected would drive Patton anywhere. Well I would start looking at personal driver selection for those answers as to what made him tick. When you talk civil war or ww2 generals you've entered my world which is where I've absorbed most personal writings by heart. A few things. Billy the kid seems to be one of the few non racist whites in his time that isn't falsely propped up as some magical non racist fairy that never really existed. Lincoln and Grant both fall heavily in being benefited by being on the side of history that we like in modern times. What Lincoln essentially did was pull a donald trump and come up short on votes and thinking he could find them in Georgia. There's absolutely no reason you should be upset at anything donald trump has done and not look at Lincoln in the same light. Except Lincoln won and got to make himself the hero. Thats going to remain a dream for donald.

Mary Lincoln was the true proponent of abolition and she was so crazy and overbearing that many historians believed it was because she fought with fellow whites so much, she was happy to do anything perceived to be spiting them. Mrs Grant was not proslavery per say. But she was a rich girl from a rich family who did nothing manual and had help for that. Mary Lincoln was so crazy and anti social and probably prodded Mrs grant for not being able to do a thing without her cheap or enslaved help. Just so long as there was help. They absolutely hated one another as most did Mary Lincoln, and you've reported yourself, that caused grant to not be present for his assassination attempt.

And abes going to answer one Mary Lincoln combined with being a few votes short. He simply used Mary Lincoln as his lost votes and decided for you. Thats the legally fuzzy gray area he talks about being in, in the Lincoln movie. Modern history fails to usually inform you, at this point he escaped and acted outside of his job and the law. Which is more what caused the war than one side being not racist and one being racist.

This man went from Patton throwing a fit about getting to Patton throwing another fit about losing. This man got chauffeured home drunk by a lt general in the army. This man's alcoholism was covered up by that very same general so he didn't lose him. He was even the first black American soldier to have an honor guard escort waiting at the airport after being flown home in pattons personal jet. Racism can be beaten through sheer honor. Know this.
