My personal belief is the later as this man's mind was sharp enough to be a pro painter, pro boxer and pro assassin all in one life.
2
Everybody get your minds out of the gutters. I'm sure she was his Joan of arc. After all. Eisenhower sounds extremely French.
1
Presidency. I've always just heard generals do not make politicians as they learn to be too trusting getting them wrapped up in scandal. I've only ever heard of copying the fuhrers highways bc of transport difficulties as an ordinance officer. And the numerous scandals like the grant presidency that he became involved in. I also heard he was not in the business of giving up white male power. To anybody.
1
All of these are very true facts. I learned most of them from both patton and eisenhowers military historian. Carlo D'Este. Not obviously murder. But he will go so far as to seriously fanboy Patton.
1
Then it's simply getting a picture of pattons funeral. Observing who wasn't in attendance for it. And realizing which group was life long enemies and which group was a supposed friend. Very simply. Patton was too successful. Patton wouldve been insisted the presidency. He had to go.
1
Another fun fact. After every allied general being ordered to dispense condems and ordering their troops to wear them during fraternization. Patton sent them to his troops with a msg. During your free time, I don't care what you do, as long as your helmet is on, and your knees are out of the dirt.
1
You might get Rick Atkinson to nod approval to the back patting generals of that war. Every other what is considered major historian of that war agrees that ernie Pyle decided who got to pat backs based on your perceived attitude towards him. He didn't like to wear a helmet. Eisenhower and Bradley wouldve agreed. He was allowed to not wear a helmet. He died in the pacific of a bullet to the brain not doing what he vilified Patton for trying to order him to do. Wear a helmet.
1
@BasementEngineer typical small arms combat range in war is 3 football fields. I wish I could say you are completely wrong. But if you let the enemy get close. You are right. But this is beside the point of making modern day America think a bunch of backpatters did something while an a$$hole ran around and was mean to everyone for absolutely no reason.
1
@BasementEngineer I can show you dents in helmets that were bullets. So that is incorrect info and all that Google bs is talking about if you creep up behind someone with that weapon. Put it square up to their helmeted head and pull the trigger. Google stands correct.
1
If there behind you with a gun squarely to your head. The war was lost before you got started.
1
@BasementEngineer basement engineer. I could kiss you sir. I just discovered that the world supposed foremost expert on this Charleton is a history professor at the college I work at. Small world. And we will see who has a PHD based off a Francis Ford Coppola movie written by Omar Bradley. And who's going to prove PhDs are captured like flags. Not earned.
1
Here's where i need your help though. Do I attack this man with Ladislas Farago? Do I use Patton and eisenhowers actual military historian, Carlos d'este? Or do I pull a skip Bayless and start war analysis and casualty count?
1
@BasementEngineer each method is so "I win" without the others. I can't decide between.
1
When you have to take someone phd bc they watched a Francis Ford Coppola movie and nobody else bothered and he seems pretty smart. So that's how it happened.
1
Or the 4th forgotten method. The German that was there. The old horses mouth. Which one engineer?
1
Oh by the way. Google ernie Pyle death photo. In the end. He listened. And you were right.
1
On that particular ballistics example.
1
What's your big problem with Patton Brad. I'm a Christian teetotaler and he cusses and drinks. Ok well. Prepare to not like modern society Brad.
1
@BasementEngineer it looks to me like he caught it right below the helmet but the placement makes it hard to judge. A left temple can become exposed in a poorly positioned helmet on a head.
1
Or as I can imagine more likely. Trying to quickly get one on when you weren't wearing it and get caught by a machine gun nest ambush.
1
Bottom line Ernest Pyle was a millenial 80 years ahead of his time with no cellphone. His steel helmet was too hot and heavy and sweaty to wear. Just like a millenial. Patton is running around the desert with a 104 degree temp but yeah ernie. We get it. Problem is. If he gets his cellphone. There is no master of info. People wouldve been. And Patton wouldn't have this problem.
1
The essential error of both Mauldin and Pyle was to assume Patton came out of his mothers womb with 4 stars and hadn't taken bullets himself in the leg with orders.
1
Which is essentially the real story behind both Clark and fredendall. Eisenhowers besties and failures both. But not according to ernie.
1
That is why napoleon told a young lieutenant to participate in about 20 battles and survive before becoming an expert to all.
1
Eisenhower and Clark took massive jumps thanks to Marshall and Eisenhower. Patton earned every star. But Pyle forgets that with all the dine and wine.
1
I have to double thank you. You made me realize the dumba$$ listened at the last minute of his life. And history can be rectified locally. Thank you. Thank you.
1
Professor Tobin can cry to Rick Atkinson, and the ghosts of Pyle Eisenhower Bradley and beedle when I usurp that phd. An iron price phd folks.
1
He's lucky there weren't injuns(I am one) around like Custer. You would see arrows sticking out of his ears so he could more clearly hear Patton advice.
1
In the afterlife of course.
1
And next time you let a good mild mannered general make a movie about an out of control bad one. Open up their diary and read. I know what both say.
1
The custom of the time for the good mild mannered generals was to brown nose the heck out of their boss. But not to that diary when I get home boy. Not there. Check it out.
1
@BasementEngineer I read the same thing on Google when you questioned me. Not at a distance and at the wrong angle it will not. It will save your life. There are plenty of men who can tell you they took a rifle bullet into the helmet at a distance. And survived concussed or with a headache. I would compare what you're talking about to wearing seabelts. 9 time out of 10. It was smart. There is a 10th time where it didn't work or caused death. They don't rip seatbelts out bc of the 10th time.
1
@BasementEngineer you're not going to get me to believe from that photo...that Ernest Pyle. Known for his hatred of helmets. Had that helmet strapped on like George patton would when he took off that day. And so I can have no way of knowing how correctly it was applied during the ambush and sticking his head up.
1
I want everyone to remember this. Before Pattons skill was ever allowed to one up ANYBODY. He babysitted a Moroccan sultan and the backpatters got to try theirs. He had to come in and save FUBAR.
1
I want everyone to remember that if war was analyzed like a modern sport. It gers extremely farcical. People like Rik Smits being compared to people like wilt Chamberlain with similar basketball to war stats.
1
But engineer. The Stat that really takes the wind out of your sailboat here. Is the double casualty rates for every other allied general. Are you suggesting magic helmets for 2nd, 7th and 3rd armies?
1
And the magic in 2nds helmets was only activated at the arrival of patton?
1
Patton was the loud mouthed replacement who was supposed to spend his war entertaining the sultan of Morocco.
1
Oh and I given myself a very attractive, very single British female 20 year old female to drive me for my war. No questions. Thank you.
1
Which at this time wouldve been the pinnacle of celebration of white male power. My gun says this ain't your land anymore.
1
Fun fact. He knew nothing of military history. Was not a good student. Would rather be reading a fictional western novel.
1
My Patton murder source is the rantings and ravings of a demented elderly man who we can confirm actually was in Europe killing people for the OSS at the time he said he did it. It comes down to saying either the dementia is making him invent stories, OR the dementia is making him forget he puts his entire family in jeopardy to speak on certain things.
1
Fun fact. Patton breached 200 years of racism that started giving blacks meaningful roles in the army with his driver during ww2. Eisenhower breached something else on his driver during ww2.
1
Fun fact. Patton got partnered up with his driver due to a very poor taste racist practical joke by one Ike. Who never transcended racism like Patton.
1
The black driver was supposed to hinder Patton and be a sandbag. Not an airbag.
1
Eisenhower logic. Your rich. Hes rich. You should make fast friends. Oh and I've given you a n*@;$ driver for the war. Good luck.
1
But I will tell you this. Eisenhower is the most realistic male equivalent I've found to Cersei Lannister that's about ever existed. Pattons the closest thing to Ned stark.
1
Fun fact. I know of no greater failures in high command during ww2 than the names lloyd fredendall and mark Clark. Lloyd was given a promotion to come home and train troops(sacked) and Mark Clark barely survived that fate. Mark Clark also did him one better by trying to pass off the his failures as that of a decent general. Lucas. But I digress from my point which is both were Ikes hand picked protégés that were supposed to single handedly win the war.
1
Fun fact. Without the man he betrayed. Dwight Eisenhower couldn't out general a tree on a golf course. Not an exaggeration.
1
Just to recap. Eisenhower tree 1. Eisenhower 0.
1
Or better put. He could not, in good consciousness, put out an order that he knew was not being followed in the SHAEF command vehicle.
1
And before anyone says I'm crazy. Why do we have a confirmed OSS ww2 assassin, pro boxer, pro painter extraordinaire get dementia and start claiming he was involved in a plot to kill Patton and that it was ordered by wild Bill Donovan. That's top level. That's from the white house of from SHAEF.
1
Supposed to say or from SHAEF.
