@stephenconway2468 The moment or the situation that you are talking about was in 2008 when this could have been resolved very easily. Obviously Tony Blair made extremely poor choices. Except, the political parties on both sides didn't take it seriously and kicked the can down the road. So, now you are left with different choices. one can wake people up who are asleep but you can not wake up people who are pretending to be asleep. Self deception is a hell of an art form.

@stephenconway2468 so, then Rishi Sunak must be doing a great job with David Cameron. it's unusual that you think EU is not just a one stop shop for the America (which is why they support it so much but the Americans hate it when they don't do exactly like what Americans say because Americans demand complete subservience or they will tell f**k the EU ). Even Yanis varofakis figured that out, not that Britain has not approached this in a silly way. By the way, immigration is an issue and legal immigration is something worth pursuing but illegal, scale of immigration and reason for immigration is something else. Your points about the "ideals of EU and EEC" are well taken, but theoretical ideas seldom translate well in practice in the political sphere. Brexit was a far more principled decision by the British, than someone like Donald Trump which is just an act of flame throwing on the system. It's also unusual that you don't connect the dots of inequality to EU.

@stephenconway2468 It's unusual to me that some British Conservatives don't make the connection between the Iraq war and the current migration crisis in Europe and UK. It all started with that one catastrophic decision. They also don't make the connection between their Syrian and Libyan War and migration to Europe. You destabilized that region you caused the chaos, and now you have to deal with the mess of your actions. Stop blaming the rest of the world and start blaming America and yourself for your action. Time to take some "Personal responsibility" that you guys talk about so much during Right vs Left debates.

@stephenconway2468 just ask yourself if there was no 9/11 but only a 7/7 London underground attack. Will American' launch a global war on Terror? No. Absolutely not. Because as Christopher Hitchens used to say some people in America think that they are not selfish enough. If it happens in America "precious American lives are lost" if it happens in France it's called anger of the people against the former empire. Infact they'll lecture about how Europe is completely inept at integrating Immigrants. Brexit was a far more principled decision by the public, twice they voted for it. Donald Trump is like a flame thrower , which Americans threw at the system because they are fed up of it. Also, you are missing to make the connection between EU and inequality. EU is actually a one stop shop for Americans (which is why they support it) brussels is full of lobbies the way it is in Washington. Even Yanis varofakis figured that out. The US hates it when EU doesn't do what Americans want when it comes to military involvement and bending your foreign policy according to the will of American regime. That's when they start saying F**k the EU, but Americans loves the idea of EU when it comes to being a one stop shop for Big Business. Because business is easily controllable. This is not hating on America, but they look out for thier intrest but if anyone else looks out for thier intrest they'll tell you, that you are going to be at the end of the queue if you do that. I'm not saying America First or Britain First but at some point of time you have to manage Europeans priority and international engagement with domestic issues.
