China is not winning.
China has already won.
Some people in Washington DC don't understand why India, Russia and others align themselves with China and blame other countries rather than themselves for siding with China which is apparently USA' largest trading partner.
China Won and you guys made them Win, Because you wanted to win against Soviet union and Russia.(and drive a wedge between Russia and China).
That didn't happen.
That didn't work with China.
Congratulations USA! You succeeded in making them the biggest economy in the world. Because you thought, if you open up markets to them and welcome them in the WTO, somehow economic progress would make them a "democracy" and They'll seperate themselves from Russia.
China' behaviour is a lot like imperial Japan and America itself (imperial japan was also helped by America).
People in Washington, don't understand why was Donald Trump' Foreign policy so successful.
It was successful because Donald Trump was already living in a multi polar world unlike the current administration which is living in the past and thinks it can somehow manifest a unipolar moment into existence.
I'm always sceptical of "Western thought leaders" especially the ones that come across as the ones bullshiting you like
1) Christine Fair
2) Niall Ferguson
3) Ian Bremmer
4) Fiona Hill
5) Anne Marie Slaughter
6) Anne Applebaum
7) Peter Zeihan
8) Michael Mcfaul
However, Elbridge Colby comes across as someone who knows what he is talking about.
Basically the argument he's been making about China, for a long time is a non violent one (take that as you may).
Basically he's been saying that China is creating a Monroe doctrine of thier own.
That's what the RCEP, SCO, BRICS, China' Trade with African union (Cobalt mining for Electric cars), China's Middle East policy(Oil and Natural Gas), China' Trade with South America (Lithium Triangle), thier Space program, Artificial islands etc. etc. is all about creating a Monroe doctrine.
Someday, they are planning to cut America off the global trade and that would lead to the fall of the American Empire the same way it led to the fall of the "European Empires" with the rise of the American Empire.
And, He's not wrong.
It's a simple argument rooted in reality.
There is less war mongering, less theoretical Political philosophy and more Real Politik.
