  1. A lot of folks believe in this Churchillian rhetoric that "America will do the right thing after it has exhausted all other options". That's just not true. In fact there is plenty of evidence to support the opposite. "America will continue to do the wrong thing until a couple of planes hit New York or Pearl harbour and then America will be forced to do the right thing due to those circumstances" and then they'll drop a couple of nukes and write a revisionist history on how they were right all along and saved the world. Most people cannot see a new situation until it hits them (Christopher Hitchens) and America is the perfect example of it. The United States is a contrarian among countries when the world was in a world war they refuse to join the war and acted like a Peacenik. When the world was at peace after the cold war they got l into 6 wars.
