China is the new Soviet Empire, has all the hallmarks of Imperial Japan and China has the ambitions like Mongol Empire.

Elbridge Colby is going places and is getting traction and old guard is not liking him for that. Elbridge Colby is narrow and pointed specifically on China. He doesn't really care much about European sensibilities, he sees through the European bullshit that the Europeans expect US to take care of them but are not ready to pick up thier end of the couch and like any ordinary American, he hates the moralising that Americans get from Europe. A lot of people like to trap him in idealistic debate traps but he's not buying it, China is the biggest challenge for America, and once China becomes the number one economy in the world by 2030-32, you will see the behaviours change in world including of the Europeans, Africans, South Americans and Asians. A lot of people only see one side of the coin that US is using Europe but what they don't see is Europe is happy to milk the USA. Might be Australia, Japan and Canada wouldn't change but the rest have the potential to change in a dime. You have to remember every one is playing a game, even your friends.

Elbridge Colby is the best on the issue of China. I think the timing is 2030-32 rather 2027. Niall Ferguson and European elites care more about Europe and they try to manipulate US politics to be beholden to Europe while American intrests in south America and Asia are ignored by them. They dress up things in the language of "The West" but what they really mean is "Europe". China owes "it's whole success" to a series of poor foreign policy decision by America (Kissinger) which is to involve China in WTO and shifted evey job from Detroit to Shanghai, Apparently the wonders of capitalism was supposed to make China more "democratic", Nither did that happen nor did it drive a wedge between Russia and China. It has created a more powerful China and Russia alliance. Which is extremely hard to counter for the west.

The American Left and The American Right both want to interfere in the other countries in the world. Where they differ on, is the targets?
