Red skinned sausages are called Frankfurts but pressure from America has caused most manufacturers to label them hotdogs, the cheaper, nastier version of the German pork sausage called a Frankfurt. The thick version of a Frankfurt is called a Saveloy, often called Pluto Pups (battered and deep fried) at take- away shops and food vans at public events like the Easter Show.

Example: my nearest Woolies is in an arcade, Woolies occupies one side, and smaller shops face it: Bakers’ Delight, Gourmet Butcher, a few cafes, a clothing shop, a jewellers, a fish shop that sells both raw and cooked fish, a bottle shop, a Sushi restaurant, and a Subway. Instead of taking the Woolies cart back to the car when they still want something from the other shops, they will often grab those items first and then head back to their car. It’s just logical.

The Gold Coast is one of the most expensive places in Australia to live, because it’s all high rise with ocean views and canal views in the other direction, with a very high volume of tourists willing to pay anything for the luxury.

There’s a huge difference between a hotdog and an actual sausage! Sausages are much tastier and come in lots of flavours and seasonings, made from beef, chicken, lamb or pork, or a combination thereof, with vegies, onion, herbs, spices, etc, we boil them then fry them in a pan until the skin becomes brown and crispy. The aromas draw the whole family to the kitchen!

Duh! You tell the bus driver that you want to get off at such and such a street, and he will call you when it’s coming up, “Smith Street next!” That’s one way to know, especially if you’re new to the area. The other way is to look at the map inside the bus and/or at the bus stop, also inside the trains, or online with the state’s public transport website, so you can plan your journey. “Plan your travel in NSW using the Trip Planner or apps, check timetables and travel alerts and find information on stations, stops, wharves and how to get to events.”

Ian, we think outside the box with so many things, including our coin sizes. Which is better to carry in your pocket, four of our small $2 coins or eight of our largest 50c coins? I know which I’d prefer in my pocket or zip purse! The less weight, the better, right? (Also, we no longer have notes below $5. ). It’s also a great way to save your change in a money box which is great for teaching your kids how to save up for what they want, even keep a little account book to monitor the balance! We had money boxes as kids and learned to save up for things!

No families live in the Sydney CBD, that area is all corporate and hotel accommodation. Once you get out into the suburbs, that’s when you can find more suitable accommodation. Many young people choose to share a four bedroom home between four of them, spreading the load fairly across four younger incomes. The trick is finding a group you feel safe and comfortable with, because occasionally you get someone who eats everything instead of considering the others as well. It’s a bit like Survivor in that regard! ROTFL! But usually they can work things out for themselves. And of course, there’s always the option of living with Mum and Dad and paying board.

It depends on the area, for whether you need to “signal the driver” or not. Obviously in busy cities with people at every stop, signalling isn’t necessary, but in the suburbs, where someone might take advantage of the bus seat to rest a while, raising your arm as the bus approaches, lets him know that you’re a passenger and not just hanging out in the bus shelter. It’s a courtesy rather than a rule. Imagine you’re the bus driver and you’re coming up to the next stop, you don’t want to stop unless someone is getting off or on the bus, so the courtesy of a hand signal is very helpful, as is a passenger standing and pressing the button to let the driver know you want to alight.

That light switch panel is for two lights. How big do you need the button switch to be that you can’t press a button the size of your fingertip? Oh wait, she said “fingernail”. No, our light switches are made for fingertips, both men’s and women’s. No electrical supplies companies make buttons for fingernails. The small switched work perfectly well, they’re the same on power outlets and fit neatly above each socket. Some rooms have several lights and six switches can be on a single panel, saving space on your wall. Six of your switches would be three feet wide!

Ooh no! She’s got that wrong! A snag is a sausage, never a hotdog! And I’ve never had either on a piece of toast! What?? Aussies often eat a snag on a piece of folded bread with tomato sauce of barbecue sauce, but it won’t fold if it’s toasted! Bunnings adopted this popular snack as their weekend sausage sizzle fund-raiser. In fact my school used to do that decades ago when I was still a child! Bunnings just took what was already popular, because it was popular, and made it their fund-raising champion that everyone loves, especially with grilled onions!

@grantodaniel7053 I’m in NSW and for as long as I can remember, Mum boiled the snags first to remove some of the fat, then she pan fried them. Lots of Aussies do that according to Aussie recipes and other folks I know, because we are more health conscious these days and want as little fat as possible. Not that sausages are healthy but at least boiling them removes quite a lot of the fat. “Should sausages be boiled before frying? Boiling sausages before frying them can help to ensure that the sausage is fully cooked through and will also help to prevent it from splitting during the frying process. This method can also help to enhance the flavour of the sausage, as the boiling process can help to release some of the spices and flavours.”

Some bus stops do function for public buses only, ie Government transport, so there can be multiple bus routes using that stop, in which case the driver will only stop if signalled, and can assume everyone else is waiting on a different numbered bus. For example, you just got off the ferry at Circular Quay in Sydney, and you want to get the bus to Drummoyne. You will know which bus to signal from the bus stop so he stops for you. The folks travelling to Leichhardt will need to signal a different bus. NOTE: I just used these suburbs as an example, I have never used public transport to go to either suburb, I have only driven to them.
