  1. Australia’s roads and signage are pretty good, so there should have been a sign at the start of that road, “No access for heavy vehicles” or a weight indicator, etc, to prevent just those situations! It would seem drivers are ignoring those warning signs.

  2. You pronounced it very well: Kalgoorlie - kal-goor-lie Coober Pedy is pronounced “cooba-peedy” with no stress on any syllable. Coober Pedy, along with Lightning Ridge, are the two major opal mining towns, but resources are dwindling and the search is on for other possible sources. Residents live underground to escape the heat, so most of the homes are hand-built above ground and have amazing rooms dug out underground! You need to search YT for them.

We are an island nation with unique flora and fauna, so any pests or threats to our animals, plants and food systems has to be eradicated at the border to protect everything.
