He most likely has a degree in reptile science and has loved them since he was a kid. Edit: “Zac Bower is the only person in Australia (and possibly the world) with the job title Venom Supervisor. Zac oversees the Australian Reptile Park’s venom milking program and is responsible for the milking of venom from Australia’s deadliest snakes to turn into lifesaving antivenom. This program saves 300 Australian lives every year and Zac nurtures all 250+ venomous snakes in his care inclusive of cleaning, feeding and veterinary checks. “Zac recently was awarded the Central Coast Business Chamber’s “Outstanding Young Employee” for his efforts in the venom programs.” More: https://youtu.be/ZVeW7YilPQg

Humans are not food for snakes so the only way you’ll get bitten is if you’re unaware of your surroundings and accidentally step on one or next to one, provoking a defence action from the snake. For example, if you step over a log and don’t think about the possibility of a snake hiding next to it on the other side, you can be bitten by a startled snake. Just avoid hiking in the outback and through bushland.
