  1. I wouldn’t take your kids to Coober Pedy, there’s nothing for them to do there. People go there to play in the rubble looking for scraps of opal that can’t be cut, or to buy rough opal so they can cut them or get them professionally cut, both of which are risky prospects. Being out in that hot sun is only tolerable for about an hour for adults. You can quite easily fall down a mine shaft if you don’t read the warning signs.
