Can you imagine a young American couple wanting to buy a four hundred year old house as their home? “Knock it down and rebuild, I want a modern home!” The US is losing its architectural history every day! In Rome, the terrazzo floors in churches and Cathedrals have a wavy surface, due to the millions of feet that have worn it down over many centuries!

  2. 400 years old is negligible when it comes to history. Egypt dates back to 3000BC!

  3.  @thatcat8442  In the US, yes, because you have so much land to spare. In UK and many European countries, the houses are already built, there’s nowhere to go so they make do with a very small footprint. Country estates are standalone houses but not everyone can afford to maintain such a house.
