It’s not a rodeo, this is the stockmen demonstrating their skills at managing the cattle and controlling them, something they need to do every day on the job. Search for Australian cattle stations and how they’re run. It’s not a sport as such, but rather a measure of which stockmen have the best skills. They’re doing it all day every day, so an annual competition is a natural progression.
