  1. The interviewer is the late great Keith Smith! He was a popular host of a variety of Radio and TV shows and was very likeable, versatile and charismatic. He was also good with young kids. “Keith Smith went on to have a career in radio and TV that spanned decades and involved him interviewing about 2 million children in his role as a self-described ''Pied Piper''. He also wrote a sitcom and published almost 30 books, ranging in topic from jokes for children to parenting tips. He published his 27th book, a collection of interviews about the Depression called Australian Battlers Remember, at the age of 86. But it was his ability to elicit candid responses from children that proved most enduring.”

  2. Construction was expected to take four years. It took 14 years. It blew out the costs so much that the architect quit! Utzon resigned midway, never saw his design completed. Executing Utzon's vision was a huge challenge. Construction, expected to take four years, eventually required 14 years and 10,000 workers to complete. Also, performers who needed costume changes during their performances, were severely limited by having to use narrow stairs where two people couldn’t pass each other and often made worse by wider costume designs. The stage was on one level and the dressing rooms were on another, with the narrow staircase the only means of transferring from one place to the other. Extensive renovations were made more recently to try and address the problems.

  3. @ Keith Smith wasn’t a reporter and never worked in the News department. He was much more prominent and well-respected.
