Dani, the white birds on your kitchen accessories are called Sulphur Crested Cockatoos. Parrakeets are a different bird. 😍👍🇦🇺

Those paper notes are still legal tender. They’re leaving them in circulation until they wear out.

You see shrimp, but the brochure says prawns, because to Aussies, shrimp are tiny prawns. We love King Prawns on the BBQ!

Those mini groceries were a Coles promotion a while back. They became popular with young kids who used them to practise their shopping and buying skills.

@johnd8892 Yeah, he migrated with his parents for his Dad’s job, so it was permanent. He started racing here, not in Canada.

Halfpenny was around in the fifties but was in proper usage back in the early 1900s when a loaf of bread could be bought for a penny and biscuits were sold loose and weighed into brown paper bags. My Mum said she used to go to the biscuit factory when she was a child in the 1930s and buy a bag of broken biscuits for a penny. Halfpenny was pronounced “hape-ny” which came about from many years of saying the word “halfpenny” more quickly. The “f” disappeared first. Also, there was a farthing before the 50s which was half of a halfpenny and about the size of the US penny today, but although there were some in circulation, they had no real value any more.

Ian, leave all the models in the original packages because they maintain their value way better.
