  1. There are five vowels in English with many variations but none of the American vowels match the Australian vowels, especially when it comes to short vowels. To me, it seems like most American short vowels are turned into long vowels when spoken. Mouth shape is also completely different for vowels from each country. https://youtu.be/_4_Jx-7lOeM
