@songs8619 She had no right to “help herself” to the Sacred Body of Jesus. What she did was in vengefulness, not Worship and not in a state of Sanctifying Grace. The priest was correct in protecting the Holy Eucharist.

@Sockmonkey3940 She tried to help herself by sticking her hand into the Ciborium! No one is allowed to do that! The priest is responsible for giving the Eucharist to his congregation. A report was made and he was interviewed but no charges have been laid. I doubt they will be, but even if they are, he did the right thing.

@Ontheroxxwithsalt She called it a cookie, that spoke volumes. She is not a member of the Catholic Church and therefore is not entitled to consume the Holy Eucharist at all.

The fact that she called it a cookie proves she’s not Catholic and therefore is not allowed to receive Holy Communion under any circumstances. It goes against the Catholic Faith, it’s forbidden by the Church and the priest was protecting the Body of Christ which was being threatened right in front of him by a person who had no right to it whatsoever. She would have to become a Catholic and be received as a full member of the Catholic Church before she can receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. The priest, even under pain of death, was obligated to protect the Eucharist with his life.

@Sockmonkey3940 We don’t have ushers. The priest had to make her let go, so he may be charged but God is pleased with him for protecting the Eucharist. If your father was being attacked, wouldn’t you defend him with everything you had?

@johndavis6482 once you have received the Eucharist, you cannot receive it again that day. Sometimes the Eucharist is given under both species but it’s moments apart. Walking back to your seat means you’re done for today. And you should be focused on Jesus Whom you just received, hopefully in a state of Sanctifying Grace, otherwise it’s a serious sin.

@aidadj2138 The priest isn’t holding any holy water. He was giving Holy Communion to the faithful. This foolish woman put her own hand into the Ciborium and crushed the Hosts as she tried to grab a handful. The priest had to stop her by whatever means necessary, because she was committing a very serious sin against Jesus in the Eucharist. She wasn’t Catholic so she has no right to receive it let alone destroy it. In Catholic history, some people have tried such things before, and God Himself dealt with them. You can read about these events in a book called Eucharistic Miracles by Joan Carroll Cruz.

It’s better for him to die than disobey God’s Law. “The Eucharistic Miracle of Santarem occurred in the 13th century when a woman looked to a sorceress for help dealing with her unfaithful husband. The sorceress assured the woman she could rid their marriage of infidelity in return for a consecrated host. The woman went on to celebrate Mass at the Church of St. Stephen and after receiving communion, took the host out of her mouth and wrapped it in a veil to bring home. Almost immediately following this act of sacrilege, the host began to bleed intensely. The woman stowed the bleeding host in a trunk in her bedroom and in the middle of the night, a bright light began emanating from the trunk that woke the husband and wife. When she explained to him what she had done, the couple knelt at the trunk and repented. In the morning, they told the Priest at St. Stephens what had happened. The Priest kept the host in a Wax container at the church and soon word spread, bringing many to visit the church to witness. The next time the Priest opened the tabernacle, another miracle was discovered, the wax container was shattered and the host was now enclosed in a crystal pyx. This pyx was placed in a silver monstrance, where Pilgrims can still view it today. After official investigation, the miracle was approved and the church was renamed the Church of the Holy Miracle.”

@Sockmonkey3940 That’s because you don’t understand what the Eucharist is. He must protect the Eucharist! So while biting might not be the recommended method, he needed her to let go of the Hosts she had in her hand because she had no right to touch them, she tried to destroy the Pillar of our Faith!
