They would have been rivaling Israel in international weapon sales!

Add Su-35S, F-15EX, Super Hornet etc.
8
These are more of a marine LSDs or similar ship class - if we counted these as aircraft carriers, US would have 2x as many as usually attributed. Also China has a number of these.
6
They have not even apologized for their WWII crimes yet.
6
Yeah but same Indians managed to get Su-30MKI to beat F-22.
4
Why? I guess your granddad was the one that wanted to counterbalance Hitler with Stalin? In mid 30s he got scared of growing red menace and seen Hitler as the way to go. Asia has by far the largest human population - it will be difficult for anyone to counterbalance it.

Author does not know tank families and design choices by age. Leopard 1 is a member of glass cannon family of tanks which had light armor but high mobility as at the time they came in all tanks could easily be defeated by heat - so why go heavy - go fast. Russian tank family of T-55 is seen all they way through T-80 - T-90 is just T-72 combined with T-90. Its a 50+ year old concept. They were SMALL b/c 50 years ago that was important. No today. T-14 is much bigger tank - same as Israel noticed that modern tank can hit tiny targets just as well as big (tank wise) so why go so small. You cannot easily fit all equipment in and armor package has huge constraints. More important is weight - Russian tanks are light as they are designed to fight in... Russia. And possibly just outside of it. Hence forth they cannot be heavy - if they were they could not get from A to B - same as a lot of APCs in Russian service having water capability.

@ramsesv5339 Country does not view what they did during WWII, their crimes against humanity, as anything "evil" or bad. They did not learn their lesson. We cannot just move on - if they view what they did during WWII as "OK" what are guarantees they do not do this again? They need, as a country, clearly state crimes of Japan during WWII and be held accountable for such crimes. Same as Germany did.

@CrossbredmiMiyang I don't even speak Chinese so its hard to imagine me and PRC. Really? Who knew PRC was responsible for world problems - which country did they recently invade? Are they threatening war on any country? Nope. Heck, for their size they seem rather very peace oriented. In total difference to say US or even Russia.
3
@CrossbredmiMiyang Of course not. Did they pay comfort women anything? No. What about millions of Chinese? These 75m poor souls were Chinese - its up to Chinese people to judge their own government, not you or me.
3
@ThatCarGuy That S-125 was not destroyed at all - almost none of Serbian AA systems were destroyed by NATO despite trying very very hard and firing more HARM missiles at them then in war with Iraq which had quite more formidable air defense system (designed by the French vs. Iran)
3
It would be just cheaper to buy T-14 as they seem to be super close.
2
@ramsesv5339 Why not? Germany places 90 year old on trail, even older. These crimes do not expire! I wonder if your family was massacred would you also move on? If we move on then what is the point of world's justice? Or you admit there is none and only the evil wins, 100% of the time?
2
@ramsesv5339 Problem is ... people do forget what happened. Give it few more generations and it will be some "abstract thing from the past". Heck, now its popular to white wash it all - make it all just "go away". For example, Canadian minister for finance, former deputy minister Freeland has a grandpa that was a prominent Nazi. He was editor of a Nazi newspaper, had a nice apartment confiscated from the Jews and was so high up the chain that in 1944 he got an army truck waiting for him to be evacuated to Germany. BUT Freeland is totally fine to say on Remembrance day that he "fought the Nazi" - I guess he fought them one Jew at a time. This is not all, recently a monument to fallen SS (on private grounds) was defaced with paint - it was initially seen as a "hate crime" - it took Police few days to realize that it is not exactly a hate crime to dislike SS - an organization that is defined by allies as criminal. They downgraded it to "vandalism". As for the 18 year old statement - the guys in concentration camps were not there just following orders or anything like that. German officers had in one camp special rings made - to signify they are band of brothers in this together - they knew what they were doing and were volunteers. Same idea of prison guards - they were there not as "follow orders, you got posted" - they were all voluntarily there to do the job. Heck, many guards which were Ukrainian traded "teeth" and other gold with Poles as well as told Poles what their jobs were - there was no "forcing" anyone. In short let us never forget == never white wash anything and tell the truth. Few days was birthday of Stephan Bandera - he killed over 1m Poles. Most of them Jews. 10s of 1000s went in with tiki torches to celebrate his birth. Few years ago he was made hero of Ukraine one more time. Of course he is long gone (thanks to KGB) but his memory, what he stands for is *rehabilitated*. Even Jews are now reduced to customary protest and that is it. They got other problems then worry about 6m dead so many years ago.

@ThatCarGuy Fortunately Yugoslavia was in Europe and due to treaties we do know exact number of stuff they did had. So we could simply count stuff after the war. Losses from US bombing in equipment were minimal (as in like less then dozen tanks - some claim as high as 14). What is frequently done is adding losses from fighting KLA. The air war proven that air power 20 years ago was insufficient alone to destroy enemy's ground assets. Air power was very effective in taking out buildings, bridges power plants etc. I still remember US claims of 100s of tanks and equipment destroyed - a claim to reality ratio of around 1:100. At one point US claimed to destroy more tanks then Yugoslavia had registered prior to the war (!) US simply run down Serbia economically.

@galaxymyt4834 You are crazy, you do know that China borders Afghanistan as well as their major allay Pakistan. They have far more to lose then US from Taliban going all hay wire.

NK should look more into anti drone tech as well as it needs army of drones itself - should not be hard - China is by far the world's largest drone producer so they should give their little friend something to work with. Especially deadly are suicide drones - very cheap & effective at overwhelming defenses with electronic welfare the only way to survive if attacked.

@signolias100 This is ancient history, currently build carrier by China is roughly as capable as last carrier US class - i.e. more then anything else on Earth sans US. Next carrier will match US in capability.
1
@signolias100 The currently being build carrier has magnetic catapults so certainly no need for a ski jump. It should be commissioned around 2024, it is being fitted out now.

@Milvus_In_Excelsis These are "restrictive" combat simulations where anything goes. The trainer & F22 was guns only and trainer was specifically picked for its ultra tight turn circle allowing it to turn inside of F22. Not sure about Hind, but I bet it also was guns only and as any helicopter it can turn on its axis or hide behind terrain. I am sure you realize that these are fun scenarios - in reality F22 would dispatch the trainer from 80km away or if it had to visually ID the target it would take it out with one of its short range missiles (or even just swung back and use radar homing). As to your question, in the mountains, guns only, Hind or any other attack helicopter would indeed (if aware of) have a good chance against any fighter aircraft.

Tomahawk is just upgrades to old missile. Russia developed whole family, in that family we can have cheaper and more expensive missiles with some being less capable then Tomahawk and some far more.
1
What do you mean China is alone? It has big parts of Asia with it as well as Africa. US allies are there mostly through coercion of economic sanctions.
1
@aestheticallyprottoy6588 Do they have a realistic choice? Nope. Any other pick === sanctions. Germany has been trying to shake off US influence in EU for years now.
1
@CrossbredmiMiyang Oh and how much are you paid for a comment? Single issue, comfort women - did Japan do anything, like say sorry? Compensate for their war crimes? NO. As for communists - so wait, one crime erases another? Maybe you point out that Stalin killed millions so Japan can go Scott free? Or maybe you point out how many millions US killed - again saying Japan is "little criminal"? Also Chinese communism was not targeted and a result, same as in Soviet Union, of idiocy. I.e. the great famines of both countries were caused by simply idiot in charge. We cannot defend Japanese actions that way, as they were targeted.
1
@CrossbredmiMiyang Stop spreading lies "Japan marked the 76th anniversary of its World War II surrender on Sunday with a somber ceremony in which Prime Minister Yosihide Suga pledged for the tragedy of war to never be repeated but avoided apologizing for his country's aggression"
1
@Papershields001 Well, they do act that way! Germany apologized for their role in WWII. Poland offered mutual forgiveness to Germany in 1960s. US is arrogant nation that is using threats to remove any opposition - until they are kicked off the pedestal I doubt we see apologies for their war crimes done in the last 20 years. This is certainly not a good example. Canada recently apologized for the treatment of Native peoples in the last 100 years.
1
@Papershields001 No, the idea is not to be so happy with Japan "countering" China. One has to remember that rather recently the west was all in love with Hitler countering Stalin. Also back then Japan was countering Stalin - just before Stalin got rehabilitated to fight Hitler. One has to remember Japan never fully acknowledged their crimes. There is tendency to just "forget" their role and what they did.
1
@madensmith7014 So what that they appear pacifist? The appear to heave learned their lesson. If they did learn their lesson then why not clearly spell out WHAT that lesson is? Why pretend Japan was not involved in WWII atrocities? Why cover such atrocities and try to make them disappear? It is plain whitewashing of the past. This is very dangerous - young Japanese don't know from their history class that Japan did multiple criminal acts during WWII and before. If they think past is OK why are you so sure they will never turn that way again?
1
@No_Anime_No_Life. But I am neither! Now what? If you are Japanese and know your country's history very well, I was born in the land of a far away allay which when forced to declare war on Japan in WWII had such declaration refused (this is like one of a kind). No google. No profile checking. Lets see you guess.
1
@No_Anime_No_Life. Actually you ignorance is showing. I was born in Poland & it was Poland, despite loosing 1/3 of its population to war, with 1/6 dead, the most out of all allies and axis countries was the very first one to reach out, in 1960s, to Germany to have reconciliation. How is that for a moral high ground?
1
@No_Anime_No_Life. Dude what are you talking about? Killing of Germans inside Poland before the war? That is German propaganda - it is not confirmed by any serious historian. No need to apologize for non event. What territories? You do know that German capital - Berlin lies on Slavic lands. Full stop. They attacked as they wanted even more land. The mine removing was done in the west. Polish resistance groups did not use any German PoWs as bait :) Any German criminal element that was killed had to be vetted by high command as Germans committed a war crime of killing up to 150 pp in retaliation. Resistance did not take any prisoners (at least outside of uprising in Warsaw) as they had no where to store them. You are uber ignorant. There was nothing Poland had to apologize for. They simply wanted to reconcile. I have no idea where you learned this BS from. But I have much, much higher moral ground. Were are you from, maybe Japan?
1
They tried to buy some from France but contract was cancelled. They went to Egypt. Project 23900 was started and ships are build with completion in 2022. They are similar to French ships but supposedly bigger. So Russia has no ships in the class in commission.
1
Ummm, did you notice they are almost identical?
