Finland and Russia do NOT have any territorial claims against each other - zero. I have no idea where author gets any claims or what they are. Sure there are some politicians in Finland that want Karelia back but so there are people in a lot of countries that want X or Y back. There is no official claim of any kind.

WSJ next to Russian military factories just having a coffee, no spying at all - just walking around ;)))

@azurejester sure, but the Russian living in Karelia do not want to be Fins. Thus by right of self determination the land belongs to Russia. Same for Moldova, by right of self determination of people, most basic right, human right, trnasnistria belongs to people of trnasnistria. Not to Moldova. Why it's so hard to understand, that we no longer live in times of tyrany, people have the right to decide!!!

Well, I would say conditional surrender is still an option - unconditional one will be later on this year.

And who would rule over that western world??? West has only one master, US. That master also wants to rule over whole planet as absolute dictator. Good thing Asia stands in its way, with China in the lead to stop hegemony and save humanity.

@OzzyBloke exactly, all people have the right to be free, even Russians. If Fins want to go back to their Nazi ways, the world needs to unite to stop them.
1
@georgem9686 exactly, if we go back few decades before to ww1 Finland was whole part of Russia. So maybe Russia should demand all of Finland as it... Stolen, no? Come on, currently living people should decide where they want to be.

@terryharris1291 Majority rules - Ukies should move back to Ukraine if they don't want to live with Russians.
1
@damn6 There is no risk of any collapse of Russia. Revisions of WWII borders are not a good idea.
1
@TheGrace020 Why would they move -- majority rules. I.e. if minority does not like - they can move.

@austinsmith3011 Why would they want to be Fins? Would Fins like to be Russians? Would say Brits want to be French?

@austinsmith3011 Most people are OK through living in Russia - these that do not like it can immigrate. In all (or all I know) countries in the world if you do not get prison time you get cancelled. So in Finland if you step out of line they destroy you financially. Compared to that "prison time" seems like a way better idea. I.e. I like Russian way of dealing with dissent than western way. I wish more western countries just imprisoned dissenters like say Russia and openly labeled them political prisoners vs. cancelling. BTW, my country is better than Norway & the particular city I live in usually scores in top 3 in the world. And we all know we are neither free nor a democracy, so certainly Fins, ranked lower, are not. As far as you ethnic comment goes, in Soviet Union you either left or became Soviet - so yes, no Fins left or became Soviets. Similar system is now used in Ukraine, they either expel or kill anyone that does not immediately becomes ethnic Ukrainian. With full support of the west.

@TheGrace020 Yes, it is Russia. Ukrainians were the ones that moved in. As to your kids example, just do not let them in. This is not the first time this has occurred in history - there are MANY examples of what you say. Sometimes you have no choice - they move in with some force. Why do you think there are wars? In Kosovo most Albanians moved in, then the west said it is their land. Somehow in Donbass or Crimea same rules do not apply, why is that?

@TheGrace020 Again, in majority of cases native inhabitants are Russians. This is why Ukraine is against any referendum - even one where "native" population was to vote. The land was clearly for a very long time pro Russian - before this war and even before fall of Soviet Union. What sparked heavy separatism was Nazism in Ukraine. Imagine you and your family lives in a shared home with another family and all of the sudden these other people become Nazi and start prosecuting you. Clearly you would resist and ask for help. It is far and wide easier for Ukrainians to live in Russia (which has the largest UA diaspora in Europe) than Russians in Ukraine. Heck, you cannot even be Russian in Ukraine - you cannot even speak your own language - fine is 5000 Harvina for such offense.
