Use of Himars and other systems has been over hyped before. Now its just went back to "normal" levels. Imagine that Russians fired 1000s and 1000s of missiles most of which were more powerful than Himars. Yet, Ukraine logistics still stands.

Why would Russia negotiate? They would simply do a counter offensive and cut off all Ukrainian troops.

@LD-pt5ur Oh come on, I seen it - but it looked huge - felt like FAB 1500.

Its about as likely as Ukraine taking Crimea. As in less than 1%. About as likely as Ukraine taking Moscow.

@georgemanifold6802 It is all of A, b and c plus Ukraine is now much, much weaker than it was in 2022 while Russia is much, much stronger than in 2022. Russian air defenses learned how to cope with Himars attacks, Russian are less sloppy with their supplies etc. Of note is that Russian reports of smashing Ukrainian ammo and fuel depots also came down. So its not like just one side learned a lesson. Also I question this 2022 softening of Russian defenses by Ukraine - it totally failed in Kherson where Russians smashed Ukrainian attacks causing massive casualties. Despite having weak defensive lines. I honestly think Russia is patiently waiting for Ukraine to do the famous offensive, stop it and counter for a knock out punch. Russia wants to get these precious Ukrainian reserves out in the open, destroy them so it can attack without worrying that Ukraine can throw anything at its forces. I.e. the sooner Ukraine attacks, the sooner Russia can crush the attack force and the sooner Russia can deliver knockout blow ending the war - well unless Kiev wants to fight to the last Ukrainian. Main goal now is to convince Ukrainians they indeed lost the war. Cannot do that with killing 1000s of Ukrainians daily - this info will never be admitted by Kiev. It can only be done with massive land grab that cannot be denied by Kiev.

Yeah, I am not sure why this is even mentioned - even if Ukraine troops went that far they would be crushed with a counter offensive. May as well aim for Moscow.

Wagner strikes ... Ukraine runs! Around 95% of Bakhmut has been liberated as of the time I write this. Only the high rise area and surrounding territory still stands. But it may take a while to take these last few patches of land.

Russians also observe.

LOL, if Russia used nukes west would know they are desperate and the very last thing is use of weapons of any kind against Russia. Heck, China would immediately offer unlimited aid to Russia & west would immediately stop supplies to Ukraine - if they are sane. This scenario is so remote I think we may as well talk about "what if aliens landed in say New York".
1
If Russia uses nukes and Ukraine has no nukes its game over for Ukraine. Even tactical ones. Chances of this happening are near zero. There is zero need for Russia to do so. Besides, China would be forced to step in support for Russia. West cannot support Ukraine more - they are maxed out. If west changes to war economy - China would be forced as well, and west cannot win atrition war with China - any heavy moves would mean sooner or later NATO would use nukes defensively.
1
Well nukes saving lives is US way of saying why killing 1000s of civilians is justified. US won the war, they make the rules.
1
@zanitzeuken There was no prolonged conflict planned. You need to read some history books. Japan's emperor commanded the government to surrender. US decided to push them a little bit with nukes. US was justifying use of nukes by the fact that landing on Japanese islands would cause massive casualties for both sides. There was no back and forth planned for this war, just heavy US push against civilians armed with sharp bamboo sticks.
1
@zanitzeuken But would it last long - emperor commanded surrender. Soviets attacked Japanese army in China - Soviet threat of invasion bring heavy fear into hearts of the Japanese. Thus, once can say the Empire of Japan may have surrendered officially roughly at the same time with or without use of nukes. Say war lasted two more weeks - would that prolonging of the war really cause more lives then both nukes?

Ask Ukraine to negotiate.

@URUNicoM LOL!

@URUNicoM Ask occupiers to stop occupying - freedom for Donbass!

Please, why would NATO do conventional assault on Russia if they know nukes would be the response as Russia is out of other options. I.e. only proper thing NATO could do is go for full nuclear attack - which they will not. Essentially they would try to a) force Ukraine to surrender and b) humiliate Russia and make it a pariah state.
