  1. It does not matter UK recognizes Crimea as part of Russia or not. 12nm is claimed and has to be respected. UK claimed "innocent passage" which again is BS as this applies to passages where it would be impossible to get somewhere / would be considerable hardship when not able to pass. Crimea is not located anywhere near such location. Saving of few gallons of fuel is not real reason. The idea is to just create an incident. Zero international legality on UK part and on US part back in the 80s.

  5. A weapons grade virus has to be powerful enough to eliminate large numbers of enemy military - i.e. make them unable to "fight". Since Covid-19 is almost invisible to military age men (and women) it is probably the world's worst bio weapon. You do not stop any enemy by killing their grandparents... you make them angry and even more eager to fight you.

  11. Not really. Ukraine has no control of Crimea and under international laws Russia can be either recognized to be new owner or recognized as occupational force. Either way they have same right to 12 nm.

  18. Cope. It is the main attack. It is going badly as they are loosing tons of troops and equipment. Probing attacks were in Spring. We are almost one month into the offensive now. They taken 8 villages. There will not be few months of this - they do not have the ammo or resources for few months. Their progress is slower than Russian progress at the beginning of 2023 - and Russians went against fortifications from 2014 - build over 8 years.

  24. Sure they were doing gunnery exercises with splashes in front of the destroyer. Patrol craft and destroyer are on video - even if no shots where fired we can clearly see both.

  28.  @conquery  NATO article 5 clearly states that attack on one member is attack on all and every member must provide help it deems necessary. There is no requirement to provide any help. NATO is a US construct. If US wants to help you, it will. If it does not then it will not. There is no pressure. The only "pressure" is NATO prestige. Lets say warning shots were interpreted as firing on the ship and UK blasted that patrol boat. Russia would sink the destroyer for sure. UK would yell loudly. US would call Russia. Everyone would "de-escalate". UK would look foolish. No one would start a war over this. Depending on how investigation went sanctions would be applied. If it went to international court or something it is a slam dunk win for Russia.

Anyone whom entered Iraqi waters under US occupation did so at their peril as US navy had legal right to defend these waters. This way one cannot sail next to Scotland and claim their are just occupied by the British thus making it OK.

  32.  @mysteriousstranger6857  It does not matter whatever territory is recognized to be owned by X or Y. Taiwan is also not recognized yet it has territorial waters. When Iraq was occupied by the US its airspace and territorial waters were under US jurisdiction.

Maybe in 10 years it will be higher than pre-war. I think you mean cities recently in Russian control or heavily destroyed - certainly no one is moving into Adiivka anytime soon.

  48. Russians decided to deal with the East first. If the plan is to later take Odessa they either come back here or drive through Mikolayiv down south. We see what they do - no one knows Putin's plan as to Odessa.

  49.  @gooseman4861  Survival rate among military is quite high even with minimal care - similar to Spanish flu. Spanish flu did not exactly interfered in WWI fighting despite some estimates putting casualties at up to 50 million. Given there were so few people on earth in 1918 such death rates today would easily mean 200m dead. Gives you perspective of what was needed to stop a war - virus would need to be at least as deadly as MERS - i.e. even with ideal care we are talking upto 20% dead among general population. Thus in military with minimal care it could go up to 30% or at least 25% with survivors not exactly "combat ready".

  50.  @gooseman4861  Most Covid positive soldiers, like 99% can rejoin combat after a week or so. If this was weapons grade stuff in addition to 20% lethality and 95% of survivors not really combat ready for a while (like few weeks to a month) there would be ready vaccine for it. I.e. you would not use bio weapon that you did not had protection against. After all it would be inevitable for your own troops to get sick. And then everyone dies. No. You would have ready vaccine at least for your frontline troops.
