  2. Russia could not do that, Ukraine is super poor, it would bankrupt Russia. If the occupy half of it thay would easily dismantle any resistance. They have experience in it. There will be almost on insurgents within 2 years.

  3.  @olehorel3616  LOL, read a history book, how did they do it in Stalin's time? Or before when there was the Tsar? Sanctions? Russia is already under heavy sanctions. They kind of run out of what to sanction. What resistance? Did you resist that heavily during last 200 years? Nope. They simply re-Rusify any Ukrainians, same thing they did before. It worked before, it will work again. Everyone said they "resist" - somehow no one really did. Besides, Putin would lean on Russian population, not so much on minority Ukrainians.

  4. EU is the one that has good deal with Russia. I. E. If EU stops gas imports Putin will be happy. Asia pays far more. Don't sell to EU, sell to China.

  5. When Poles fought Russians, November uprising, there was same thing. Someone said... They are coming. They did not. Repeat 5 times. By 6th no one went to forest, that is when Russians came. They will tire Ukraine out. They don't even need to invade. Imagine economic cost to Ukraine. They are going bankrupt right now.

  6. Chances of invasion are small. If they do it will be at most half of Ukraine. No need to worry about will of pp. There were no issues in Soviet times.

  8.  @JamesKerLindsay  technically Ukrainians, Poles and Russians are one people. Polish tribes lived west of present day Berlin all the way to far east of present day Moscow. In the east they got invaded from the north. The mixture of these invaders and subjugated Poles is Russians. If you don't believe me we have two good sources, bizantine empire and nestor chronicles.

  11.  @Tugela60  Maybe, but they can be made "friendly". Remember they were part of Soviet Union and there were no "revolutions". Besides, any Ukrainian ethnic area would be controlled only for short period of time, maybe months. Russia would bankrupt trying to make Ukraine as rich as itself. Soviet model failed b/c of that. What could happen is two Ukraines, one Russia leaning, the other west leaning.

  12. Come on, once Soviets came Bandera terrorists did not have a chance. All they did was hide. Of course Soviets did not kill them, or Bandera for reasons they were terrorists, they killed them b/c they were a threat to Soviets.

  15.  @timbehrens9678  I would bet that outside of few advisors there are no troops in there that are Russian in origin. Why would there be any - it would cost $. There is no need, locals have it handled. Look at Georgia war, Russians did not have anything there other then sanctioned peacekeepers. But it is so close it took just hours to move in.

  19. Why join NATO now when Russia is half the size of Soviets. Does not make any sense. You should leave NATO not join it. Remember downsides of membership are many.
