I bet that this whole thing was just pre arranged for publicity for both pp. can sailboat go faster than wind - YES so why could not this contraption? If it took me like 30 seconds to show that (!!!) via Google I fail to see how a professor could not do the same. And no I do not even have a PhD.

@johnborton4522 Sure, at an angle - but its POSSIBLE. Also the little propellers are not exactly straight - they are at an angle. I have scientific education and when I was young I just said not possible - but later on I am more into the idea "well, if I really had to do it how would I". Unless its a very young professor - assistant or just freshly hired post doc I find it strange they would not had the same attitude. Even as a fresh post doc, in physics one would have rather open mind and given that he had to study a lot of math for physics degree his imagination must be well developed. This is why it all feels strange.

@johnborton4522 If you read my comments 10 times you can see that I guessed exactly how this thing works without doing any research into it. So you lost a dollar. I explained it by simply asking a question - how is it possible and combining it with knowing its possible for sail boats. Now go re-read my comment - I am sure you figure it out. I wish you bet more then a dollar ;)

@johnborton4522 Maybe I should go back to school and become scientist. Obviously recent crop seems to be made out of idiots that are too ground in their ideas. One should not need a PhD to realize that IF A BLOODY BOAT can exceed the speed then there is something more to it. Also by looking at the craft it is bloody obvious that if you play around with the "boat principle" you can get it to do a bit different things - in here it was 100% obvious to me that propellers were not straight but at an angle --- sails are at an angle. How can no one start seeing a simple pattern here. Also there is no problem with getting more energy then steady state --- anyone seen in their life that some objects have frequency at which the waves will add thus exceeding initial wave radiation. I.e. they add up. In bridges this can cause whole bridge to collapse. So indeed with additive properties you can exceed steady state. And lots of pp know about this.
