Its called escalation. If he played the card in March he would escalate way, way too hard. Notice how they escalated closing off gas, 60% 40% 20% 0%.

Well, if world was truly free the UN laws of people deciding their future would be respected and UN referendum in Crimea would have given it to Russia.
17
@m1l3s27 LOL, I don't even speak Russian. What truth hurts, huh?
13
Yes, they have now more equipment.
8
LOL!

Given that around 80% of the Ukrainian soldiers became Russian soldiers I think it was clear that they rather be ... Russians than Ukrainians. I.e. there was no pro Ukraine faction present anywhere.
7
@vladislavbondarenko7067 Russia evacuated the city. Come on you should know that. Why if everyone laws Ukraine so much there is absolutely no pro Ukraine activity??? There were multiple proposals for a referendum - UN one, for Ukraine. Russia agreed. Ukraine did not. I wonder why.
7
@Marvin-dg8vj Spot on, this is a big permanent kick into EU and UK rear end. And imagine that now all these cheap resources are going to UK / EU competitors making their products cheaper!
6
@vladislavbondarenko7067 Really? How so - if you think it is so fractured than what would be left of US or Canada?
5
@vladislavbondarenko7067 It belongs to the people that are there now. If we look at ingenious population, even Tatars may not be it. Also I fail to see all these Americans packing their bags and going back to Europe. Easiest is to look at current population. I do not agree to any forced removal of population to change the "ratio". This is going on in different areas of the world - frequently with western approval or support.
5
@mfulan7548 If you do not want to live in Crimea - leave! Simple! Kosovo was part of Serbia as per US. If Albanians did not like it - leave - simple huh? So why did US build huge military base there and why west is pushing Serbia to accept Kosovo as independent state??? Why is US not a British colony? If Americans did not like the King they could have just sailed home! Why did they start illegal revolution? Why not just leave! It was British land! They accepted that until they rebelled! What was the problem all of the sudden?
5
Well, it seems Germany prepared well, they have good storage reserves. Poland did not prepare well OTOH as they have massive costs to the economy due to war next door.
4
Ukraine is in full defense mode and Russia is moving west. Depending how much Russia moves we will see push for UA surrender by early or late spring.
4
What for? Line is dead.
4
And I guarantee you that no matter how bad Ukraine will loose this war, west will say they won.
4
2025 Ukraine surrenders.
4
Exactly - Russia did not need foreign currency to make 100k T-34! Its just idiotic thinking by the west.
3
what future relations? I doubt there will be willingness to have much of a relation for at least next 20 years if not more. From both sides.
3
Ukraine no longer has troop numbers...
3
Russia is not in any hurry b/c of US aid that never stopped. Ukraine simply does not have ... stuff and will not get any stuff that matters ... ever. The war is progressing towards total Russian victory. Nothing seems to be able to stop that.
3
No. Not really. Russia had hard time dealing with payments in Euros as they were "useless". Even conversion was an issue. It is far better to get paid in say yuan which can easily convert for goods.
3
Ukraine is already being pushed back and retreating. They gambled and lost.
3
@bernardfinucane2061 well it's per live map UA. So is the Ukrainian MOD also doing the Kremlin line?!
3
@mfulan7548 If you do not like the British you can use the Native people. There are plenty of other examples. When Americans started their rebellion they were helped by France. Was France right to help? A lot of Poles also came to help, were they right? Was a Polish revolution (which failed) before the war of US independence a fight for freedom or was it bunch of criminal elements? So what that Russia agreed to respect Ukraine borders - for 20 years they did - and then things changed. French also had peace treaty with the British yet war started and they helped American colonies. Which question you want me to answer? My main view is very simple. People have the right to decide & a concept of a country holding people hostage is as obsolete today as it was 300 years ago. EU for all of its mumblings about "freedom" is as backwardly set as their ancestors were.
3
Till Ukraine surrenders?
2
Meh as long as Sumy joins Russia its OK. New referendum will show 200% of Kursk wants to rejoin Russia.
2
Well, other then he brought down whole EU to its knees ;)
2
@JohnDlugosz LOL, if you were Russian why would you want to live in Banderostan - that is like saying Jews would not mind to live in Nazi Germany despite discrimination. Once Hitler started to push 1000s started to move away from Germany - despite Jews being quote used to discrimination in Europe. We are not talking about some tolerant state where all are equal here, we are talking here about Ukraine where you are fined for speaking Russian (5000 harvina)
2
Rapid re-deployment.
2
LOL! Yeah I am sure largest producer of food will miss 0.001% of its agro land ;)))
2
@Artificer101-g8w No one in Russia cares about being humiliated - they are fighting a war not starring in a comedy.
2
More like repeat of the battle of the Bulge. Someone in Ukraine did not read up to the end.
2
Umm, but west made sure Russia is firmly with China and India. For the next 100 years.
2
If we did same calculation for WWI we get 100 years....
2
LOL, Russia is now recognized as a world power - an important country with a lot of influence and prestige. You do know west is only 12% of the world, do you?
2
@mufinsp0 Me, none. Most on this channel are on something very strong - as well as the author. When will you realize Ukraine lost the war - when Russians are in Kiev or Lviv? I bet when west forces them to surrender you spin it as some kind of "victory".
2
Comparisons to the battle of the Bulge are spot on - this battle is also Ukraine's last gasp. Main difference is Germans had an objective - albeit far fetched - Ukraine does not seem to have one. What political win exactly? PR does not win wars. Support for war in Russia is going up, way up! Support for Putin is going up as well - during times of stress people go around the leader - see Zielinski for example of this. Imposing costs???? That is Russia on Ukraine as her best units are grinded down in Kursk. Ukraine should surrender - war is clearly lost as Russia cannot be stopped in Donbass.
2
Pushing Russia and China together is a major geo political mistake of the west. Also Russia and India are now closer then ever. Good job west - you made sure Putin is stronger then ever.
2
This happened in Poland in 1939. Germany had too many mechanized units, enough to outrun Poles marching at night. By the time the river was reached, advance German units were already there.
2
@waynesworldofsci-tech bigger problem was hot summer. The forts were there because it was a swamp. Well not that September. Also shows the value of fortifications. Poland should have ignored the allies and called mobilization weeks before as well as built as many trenches and tank ditches as possible. A lot of bunkers were not ready at all but still offered stiff resistance. Some still had fresh concrete not dry yet but held for a few days. Not that it would lead anywhere, Poland could not win with Germany and there was little to persuade the Soviets to refrain from the back stab.
2
There was nothing of importance there to defend. Never interrupt the enemy when making a mistake. Putin played well and won. Ukraine lost massive amounts of equipment and now is retreating.... For what I ask??? PR?!
2
@rrai1999 LOL, no - why would they? Russia won the war - any desperate acts will not change that.
2
@patwilson2546 Well, Russia did show - they taken Bakhmut, they are now taking Adiivka. They advanced more than Ukraine in 2023. They taken lighter losses then the enemy and are forcing Ukraine into general mobilization.
2
@hgv1947 India.
2
They are stopped more or less.
2
@TrumpFacts-wl2ik Well, so far Putin is one of the most effective leaders Russia ever had - and clearly one of the best if not the best leader of a major country. Many wish Putin lead their country.
2
What is the bloody dilemma everyone talks about? There is none - Russia has very clear path - push in Donbass. It only has main problem - how fast it can push in Donbass.
2
@vladislavbondarenko7067 Ukraine said no to any referendums. And the land belongs to the people, not to Ukraine. I support these people, as they fight for freedom. Western politically motivated view is a shame. They are on the wrong side of history.
2
@vladislavbondarenko7067 Well, I see Bandera is strong with you "wipe". Yes, there were transfers of people during Soviet times - but no one says Soviet times were correct. Thus Ukrainian attempts at such transfers should be seen as a war crime.
2
@mfulan7548 Sure I can give lots of examples, Kosovo, Taiwan, South Sudan, breakup of Yugoslavia. Eritrea. How many examples do you need? Lots of examples from very recent times. Essentially all these places had to fight for their independence in one way or another. There are still conflicts based on who lives where. This is why I firmly believe in simple, human non barbaric way of settling things - people decide. Or you can follow Kiev regime.
