  1. The problem with 4 more oblasts is that it will cost a lot of $$$. If you conquer them - you need to pay $$$ to upgrade them to Russian standard. Remember Ukraine is super poor. Russians opposed Crimea not b/c Crimea is Russia - its the cost... same with Germany re-unification - think $$$. What is saving Ukraine from Russia is the fact its so poor. Poor Ukraine can be used to sink EU - acting like a rock around sinking man.

  2. Most leaders would stay in Kiev as there was little danger of Kiev being taken anytime soon. The forces used were small - we are talking about Kiev being attacked from both sides by maybe 20k troops - at the max level. Main goal of Kiev operation was to force Ukraine to the table - which was success - BUT, west foolishly put breaks on that... not realizing Russia had good plan B.
