  1.  @philliptemple9841  Well, by end of this month the Bahmut - Solidar - Seversk line will fall or at least will be in sweeping mode. The next fight is Kremators - Sloviansk. For that we are giving Russians a whole month! Given how long it took previous line I think they should make it. I guess you can always argue that a village somewhere in the south is not yet liberated or something - but all major cities will be taken.

  3.  @thetruthhurts7675  Ukraine got 1 town of 4000 people in the north and one tiny village next to it. They are pushed out from one crossing across the river where they still hold 5 villages, 3 of which they took during the offensive. In a week Ukraine will be down to one small town and 1 village, maybe less. At the same time Russia took confirmed, Kodema in Donbass. Russia also took two villages in Zaporozia and attack from Kharkiv. Above just from today.

  7.  @agt155  M1 is from the 80s. So not exactly that new... L27a1 is for rifled gun and hos low specs. It cannot penetrate even a bit older Russian tanks on their frontal arc unless hitting weak zone.... I.e. L27a1 is obsolete.

  8.  @agt155  Ah yes, lets take a look! L30 is a 55 cal gun - so long at 6.6m it fires projectile at 1650 m/s max Same as L44 but less than L55 (1750 m/s). At such high velocity (full charge) the L30 has very, very short life of just 400 shots while original L44 had 1500 (now more). Did not find info on actual pressure for L30 but it is the energy of the actual SHOT that counts - and darts fly at same speed as L44 - so they cannot be better than L44. The latest L/55A1 has impressive stats and I am sure the darts fly even faster from it. T-14 main gun has even more pressure than L/55A1 and darts fly (at 5kg mass) at over 2000m/s Since junk from UK is rifled you cannot exactly compare apples to apples with smoothbore guns everyone else uses - where you can just look at things such as pressure. Rifling is the problem.

  16.  @scardog8377  LOL, no its not ;) Russian army has about 270k personnel and out of that about 100k are conscripts. So Russian army professional core is around 170k. Not all can be in Ukraine, some are in Syria, some in Armenia and some in Russia training new troops etc. So maximum that can be deployed - absolute Maximum is around 120k. Not all of that 120k can be in Ukraine - some are deployed on the border in Russia - i.e. in Russia - Ukraine border. Actual used forces were never much more then 100k troops. Russian allies can almost double that amount. Now Ukraine announced recently they have, with all support troops - 1 million.

  18.  @donnievance1942  Support for the war is quite high and astronomical for Putin (like 95%). Russia will have to mobilize whatever it wants it or not. This is why they already mobilized the industry. So they are ready for it. Prepared. Essentially once all of Donbass is liberated a peace offer will be done which 99% will be rejected. We already know Russia said they need a buffer to account for long range weapons. They cannot hold much more territory with current forces, maybe they can take Kharkiv at the very most, maybe Odessa but not much more. However, Ukraine may simply not surrender. To take at last half of Ukraine and take Kiev regime out they need to mobilize. Its simply impossible without it.

  23. Woo hoo UK is getting a real tank - maybe almost as good as old Leopard 2 A7 (they do share a lot of components). Probably not. But hey, after everyone changed to smoothbore guns (except India with their meme tank) like few decades ago it is nice to see UK joining the club. Took a while. At least UK made tanks will now not be just targets but can actually bite back.

  25.  @nikolaucznaum4312  Everyone moved away from rifled gun as it greatly reduces your options... Do your homework before posting! With rifled gun you cannot fire high velocity APFSDS rounds. You also cannot fire missiles. This is why in late 1960s tanks started moving towards smoothbore.

  26. This is why everyone is buying record #'s of tanks at break neck prices. Poland just spent billions to get 250 Abrams tanks. Signed few days ago. ATGM proven, as in other wars before this, to be no match for tanks. Even outnumbered 3:1 a tank heavy unit mops up ATGM armed light infantry. This was proven again and again and again in Ukraine.

  27.  @andyo8141  Umm, we see latest trend is to buy more tanks - your numbers are from before the war. Poland NOW is buying more tanks. Germany NOW is getting more tanks. Even UK ordered upgrades now to its old tanks. 3:1 is called math. Russia invaded with just 100k Russian troops. This was supplemented by at most 70k Donbass militia, half of which was low quality conscripts. Maybe 10k, at very most 15k of Chechens from National Guard. So generous figure is at most 190k. Both sides started with roughly same number of tanks and APCs. Ukraine army at the start had 250k plus they recalled 50k reservists just before the war. When war started they did general mobilization of all forces and no male between 18-60 can leave. So if Russian Donbass forces could double in size, why cannot Ukrainian forces. Heck - even in Kiev there were Ukrainian reports of 1000s of rifles and other stuff given away. So if you double UA force of 250+50 you get 600k - which is 3:1. Officially Ukrainian reserves on paper are 900k. But I doubt they can / could use that many soldiers.

  34.  @Fvoarin  All tanks main role is infantry support - if this tank is more specialized than that than its not an MBT - its a heavy tank... throw back to the end of WWII. It does sort of have a mobility of a JS 3 or Tiger 2. My God, if that is true this thing is even worse than I assumed!

  35.  @gonzomuse  The specs of the tank are terrible. It has no mobility, low fire power and its armor is not the best. Who cares what it did in Iraq? Did you know that ISIS pickup has 60 to 0 kill ratio vs. M1A1??? I guess not! Old Russian armor with competent crews are beyond reach of this tank. It will be creamed in any tank on tank engagement for simple reason that modern T-72 can penetrate it with ease from 2000m while its obsolete main gun would need to hit a weak spot on T-72 to penetrate.... There are rumors that these tanks are never to be used in any situation where they may get captured or there is not a recovery vehicle close by. Essentially there for emotional support. I wonder why ;) The only other tank that is so bad as this is Arjun from India. Bottom line is, UK should get rid of this junk and buy Leopard 2 A7 or upcoming panther tank. This junk is beyond saving.

  37.  @gonzomuse  What performance??? Against whom??? Where did it perform so well huh??? I take upgraded T-72 over Chally 2 any day - it is far better tank! I can take out Challnger 2 with first hit from 2km away while I know it would need to get lucky to penetrate my superior armor package. My tank is also far more mobile - I can go off road and take out mobile bunker from the side - I can flank. Chally 2 cannot do that. They only super thing Chally has is tea. Also T-72 is more reliable & uses less fuel and is easier on logistics. Not to mention T-90M which is even better version of T-72 + T-80. Its a total failure of a tank. There is no future for this junk. UK should by well made German tanks and send all of this junk to scrap yard or Ukraine.

Maybe British should have provided Iraqis with some Challengers so we could remove the myth of it being a "good" tank ;) The Challenger 2 tank is a disgrace to British industry. It is a terrible tank & terrible design that has been discussed many times. I have no idea why performance in Iraq matters at all - Iraqis have shown that they do not care what tank they have, they are equally incapable of using it.

T-34 was more mobile tank. Who cares what record the gun holds - taking out some old garbage does not count - what counts is actual specs. They are terrible b/c its a rifled gun - no one else in 1st world uses... rifled guns ... far at least 30 years ;) HESH is obsolete type of ammo... it was good in 1960s but now its not good for anything. Maybe you should read how HESH ammo works and what it is good for. Its armor is not the best as it has weak spots even at the front where it has plain steel. What incoming fire? From whom exactly? Really basing this again on Iraq??? And even there they penetrated the front with some old missile. What Kornets? It never even seen a Kornet ;)))) What tandem RPGs???? It faced few and some penetrated. Even from the front! You are an idiot if you think that this tank, many times described as worst of NATO - is any good - there are whole videos dedicated to what garbage it is. T-72 can penetrate it from the front based on latest numbers for ammo and what is know of Challenger 2 frontal armor. What do you know of T-72 not being able to penetrate it from the front? Was it ever shot at with some modern ammo? No. So what do you know exactly? I do not even think it was shot at with some 1960s ammo! It obsolete gun cannot penetrate most frontal armor of T-72 latest variant - we know ammo specs, we know armor specs. No go. Or are British lying? Or maybe Americans? These are all facts. Easily verified by google. Cope. Get decent tank.

  41. For no way to resupply they sure are by some magic firing at least 10 or more like 20 times more shells then UA side. They do not need food. They are Russians. Ukrainians have food and plenty of it. They simply take food from Ukrainian troops. Fresh MREs from the west!

After Russia reduced 1000s of Ukrainians and thanks to idiots in charge on UA side 1000s more for the next few days the situation of Ukraine in Kherson looks hopeless thus it makes sense to see Nikolaiv can be taken very soon. Chances of Ukraine taking Kherson are essentially zero. This has been shown decidedly over last few days on the battlefield.

  48. But there are no weak points in Russian lines anymore. What 100s more western modified T-72s? What 100 Leopards 2 and what 200 Leopards 1??? Where are you getting these numbers from. Besides even when true this is not enough to continue the war. Russia is winning the war. If Ukraine does not do some magic Russia will achieve all its military goals this year - than it can continue till Dniepr river if it wishes or freeze the conflict.
