Nope, it was a good move. It served as pressure tactics vs. Ukraine. First two, then two more, maybe another counter offensive will add one or two more. It shows to Kiev they will be taken apart. He left plenty of room - what do you mean? And why replace Putin? New Kremlin ruler will show strength by pushing Ukraine harder.

Well, the peace deal centers around not allowing NATO into Ukraine. As well as making sure any Nazi tendencies of Ukraine are nullified in rather "assured" way. Also Crimea is transferred to Russia. Donbass was supposed to go back to Ukraine .... but it seems now this may not be possible as after almost 2 years of war no one exactly trusts Kiev. Author here is total joke - Russia DOES NOT NEED ALL LAND - OR EVEN MOST LAND. Come on. Be real. We know what last year the document said about peace deal.... we KNOW. it was signed by both sides.... thus we know author here is dead wrong. War crimes? Sure Russia does not mind at all prosecution of war crimes - remember that Ukraine did a lot of war crimes. Also no one cares too much about some criminal Ivan - these guys will probably get themselves into a Russian prison anyways. Reparations???? Sure - Russia can pay a deal of $$$ for removal of sanctions. Again, author here is.... crazy! I actually expected Russia to pay something like 100B over period of 10 years. Yes, in fair world Ukraine would pay, but world is not fair. Why war needs to continue as long as Putin is in power - if Putin died today war would not be affected. Putin has not a lot of connection to the war. New Russian president would continue the war as it is in best interest of Russia to do so ... come on.
2
These were NOT treaties. And any treaty can be revoked. And "Russian-Ukrainian Friendship Treaty" expired in 2019 (!) So nope, they did not violate any treaty.
2
LOL! I wait till US pays it to Afghan people, Iraq, Vietnam etc. that would be many trillions.
1
LOL, nope. Russia cannot turn around. From some areas maybe but not all. Also NATO needs to be removed from Ukraine hopes and dreams permanently by a treaty.
1
LOL! Forgot 6 - Putin will dance naked ;) Ukraine conditions are non starter even for Navalny.
1
Yes, the stakes are high - once Russia wins it will be the end of western backed international rules and start of world backed international rules. End of the west, beginning of the east!
1
Try what again? They did not try again after win with Fins. Main goal is to keep NATO out of Ukraine. This needs to be written in stone.
1
Sure and they can then take same amount from assets west has. Also this will be political suicide for the west in views of the world. UK tries to dance around the issue by saying founds will be frozen forever - but this is not realistic at all.
1
No clue. Maybe take over US? Seems logical!
1
Yes, certainly Russia will win the war - but we don't know final terms.
1
Russia would have no problem with either war crime trails as long as done by say Asian court system or African court system & involved criminals from Ukraine. Repatriations are on the table as well as a swap for sanctions. Putin and end of the war are in no shape and form related. Any future leader will do exactly same as Putin.
1
Oh and Banderites respected Minsk 1 and Minsk 2? What deal in 1994 - there was no treaty - same as there was no treaty signed on dissolution of Germany where it said no NATO to the east of Berlin.
1
Russia said clearly they want strong assurances of peace - also not interested in some frozen conflict.
1
LOL, Putin no longer president - war will continue. War is not related to Putin. Same as once started WWII was not related to Hitler at all - or once Banderism started it continued even without Bandera. This is not about Putin at all. Nope. Zero. Putin dies today, no difference.
1
@rufaelmekuria6868 Spot on, annex more of Ukraine!
1
As Putin said, they fought Sweden for few decades, they can fight at least that long.
1
Nope, not trapped at all - this was very well done. The regions were added but NOT their borders ;) So borders are free to be changed in any negotiations. Exception is Crimea. Russia army has shown in the last two weeks that Ukraine army is not even close to being better at anything.
1
@mariaf.6601 Win is not possible.
1
Oh they know that Kiev is rather firm & they know Russia is far more flexible. But heck, if you do not try, you never will have a success.
1
Ukraine already announced that they will do ethnic cleansing of any territories they occupy - thus Donbass better fight like their lives depend on it - b/c they do. Children are non issue - they are returned to their parents or guardians. I do not see any issue with them being initially evacuated. As soon as parents ask for them back, they are back.
1
About 95%+++ See Crimea as Russian including Navalny. I.e. there are super few Russians that don't see Crimea as Russia. Even heavy pro west opposition sees it as Russian. I mean Crimea ethnically is by far Russian, it was only moved administratively to Ukraine and has no real connection to Ukraine.
1
EU can be negotiated - NATO not. War will continue until last Ukrainian is killed or they accept they will never be part of NATO.
1
Why on Earth would Putin want to take whole Ukraine? LOL! At most he would try to put pro Putin puppet in charge.
1
Ukraine is doomed.
1
LOL, and what will Russia occupy rest of Europe with - against NATO? Come on, be real. It will take Russia few years to rebuild from this war.
1
Nah, Ukraine will break first.
1
Ukraine is democracy? Is North Korea a democracy?
1
@simian_essence both are one party absolute dictatorships. Ukraine is more similar to Nazi Germany while NK is more of a medieval kingdom.
1
There was no end of the 2014 conflict. Many people consider this current events continuation of 2014.
1
F16s need to be sent as Ukraine has no air force left. This is just pro longing the fight not any game changer at all. In fact it is a downgrade from MiG-29 which can be used in much rougher conditions.
1
@theonlylauri Not sure what a scare quote is. In 2010 Ukraine made Bandera a hero of Ukraine and started to slowly encroach on the rights of ethnic Russians. By 2014 we had things such as Odessa massacre. Ukraine, or more specifically Kiev regime, also did not exactly live by the treat. I fully support the fight for freedom of both people of Crimea and Donbass - they have the right, as all humans do, to live free. The free choice of the people is far more important than any other "laws" or "regulations" that attempt to hamper such freedoms.
1
@colinwise8044 After Maiden square once their president was removed sure there was discontent - come on - if you elected a guy and they removed him would you be ... happy? Maybe Donbass and Crimea did not want to outright leave Ukraine but they certainly wanted something to happen. There was no intervention of Russian "mercenaries and irregular forces in Crimea" - they had their regular forces there. "The Odessa event looks like an accident that would not have happened if Putin had not done his best to sow discord in Ukraine" please - Putin's fault? Really? This event has 100% shown the true side of Banderites - they were BACK. The worst evil on earth was born again. And do you care what people of Ukraine want? Like all of them? Donbass was supposed to go back to Ukraine with set of rights as a territory. But nope, none of this was materialized - I am sure its Putin's fault. It is also Putin's fault that Kiev wants to go to NATO at any cost - even if it means burning down all of Ukraine. Strange no? This is why so many people in Donbas fight against Kiev regime - they want freedom. They are tired of empty stuff. Saying in 2014 they did not want to leave Ukraine - neither did UK want to leave EU in 2014. So I guess we have to de-legitimize their referendum, correct? Elections are held every few years as people view changes. So did view of people of Donbas - they no longer want to be part of Ukraine. Why the west insists incorporation by force is a solution? I support freedom for Donbass and their choice. Sure Russia had its hand in it - but so does US or anyone else - so everyone is as guilty. May I remind you of embassies that US has in countries it controls that are the size of small cities? No influence there ;) Millions or Billions spent on Ukraine by US also does not count, I guess, in influence shaping - so why blame Russia?
1
@colinwise8044 Ah yes, people burned themselves ;) And again somehow fault of Putin - I guess he instructed people to set fire to a building with at least 40 pp inside. And I love the idea that if they make one decision its final forever - who cares what referendum said in 1991? You do know we have elections every few years as people change opinions and things change. In 1991 Ukraine was Bandera free - not so much later on like in 2014. So this argument makes no sense at all. Also we do know that after Maiden there were very strong anti Ukraine feelings in Crimea - we do know over 70% of Ukraine army stationed in Crimea joined Russia. If your troops join the "enemy" in large numbers then clearly they do not want to be part of Ukraine. Kiev was with different president in 2013 - irrelevant. They wanted to be in NATO by 2014. They wanted to be in NATO at any cost in 2022 even if they needed to fight a war for it. Looking at Donbas right now almost all males of military age fight for freedom. If any left their homes (and many did) they did so to go to Russia. "people of Donbas did regularly have their say and would have had it again following Maidan" - LOL, sure - you must be kidding - their president was just removed by force and new Ukraine just banned their culture and language. What do you want these pp do - I would fight for freedom as well! "They might have elected many MPs or even a president sympathetic to Russia. " - LOL, Ukraine arrested all opposition and all MPs. "Much of it was in promoting or supporting democracy." i.e. western US version of it. Not actual freedom. If someone wanted anyone "poisoned" dead they would be dead. Same as any other strange poisonings. They are a joke. Bottom line is people have the right to determine their future. People of Donbas do not see that future in Ukraine but with Russia. You can say that "Putin changed their mind" or some similar stuff - but that is just a way to go around election results - I mean anyone can say that Biden is not true US president as Americans were coerced by say... Putin? Do you think that would fly? I think democrats actually tried that with Trump. Past results of elections etc. are of no importance. What counts is now and current will of the people. Kiev regime knows 100% they cannot win any referendums in Donbass or Crimea - even if we get 100% of people that were there in 2022 and had residency. After all, would you vote for regime that shelled you for past 8 or 9 years? Ukraine today is one party multi leader dictatorship. There are no freedoms. There is no opposition and people that are inconvenient are disposed off by force. Go ahead, ask why Ukraine does not want any referendums that are totally free? Go ahead ask why they fight a war given they can end it by simply saying they want to be neutral? Strange they say they want NATO for safety yet they lost all that safety b/c of NATO. Nuland and US admitting to some spending is also not exactly to be trusted. There is a reason countries are banning or taking a careful eye to all these "charities". I wonder how somehow its OK for US to have so much influence in Ukraine but you start to scream when Russia does the same - one is "legal" the other is "evil". To summarize will of the people needs to be respected and the current will not some past will and without any conditions. Simply ask, what they want.
1
Yep, nukes were already proposed. If Putin is replaced with Progrozin Ukraine is done for. He would mobilize 600k and run them over including Kiev.
1
Ukraine cracks and breaks. No negotiation.
1
Nah, Putin showed signed papers from last March - they were nowhere even as bad as this video shows - this was Putin victory in March of 2022. The main essential thing for Russia to win is keep NATO out of Ukraine. No NATO === Putin won. Anything else is secondary. Sure protecting ethnic Russians from Nazi needs to happen - but this could be even done with help of UN.
1
You are 100% right.
1
EU can be negotiated. No NATO is mandatory. Land is optional. Actual documents were signed in March - Putin shown them to African delegation. I.e. peace was super close in March but UK blew it up with promises.
