LOL, "excellent" - they are terrible. They get out played by Russia every time in Donbass. The Kherson is an excellent example of Ukraine getting out played.

His idea of offensive is going back to trap the enemy ;))) This may be an idea on tactical level (Russians did it south of Izium - they moved back, UA moved in, Russians wiped them out with artillery and moved back in). But not on larger strategic level.

Ukraine will not attack Kherson itself as right now Russia is pushing them towards the city of Mikolayiv and I would not be shocked if we see battle for that city.

@dylanc9174 Bridge is fine. Why pp say its destroyed is beyond me. There are videos from the bridge while ON the bridge - from like today. Not only that there is 2nd bridge available. Finally not only that but Russia has ferries. Not even that - Russia has pontoon bridges.

@terjeoseberg990 Only deck is damaged. As they hit the deck Russian or local crew fixes it. Main problem now is they hit it at day time targeting Ukrainian crew and killed some workers so maybe they will not be so willing to work on fixing it. In emergency they can just put some beams over damaged section and drive truck onto that. Its non issue.

Phase 3 will start once all of Donbas is taken - so probably at least a month away now. I assume phase 3 will be taking Kharkiv - but I could be wrong - it may be Odessa.

@andersjjensen Russians already taken Kherson - you mean Nikolaiv. Problem is Russia and allies are not taking heavy casualties and costs are low. But costs for Ukraine to hold the line are immense. This is why Russia is in no hurry. Let them bleed. This it may still take many weeks before all of Donbas is taken. Kharkiv will probably be taken but will be a huge operation - I expect something like 6 months. I also expect Odessa to be taken - also 6 months. We see. You never know exact times in war. At the beginning of 1944 Germans were still doing OK - then Soviets did Bargation and it was all over - front moved a lot. Same break may happen here, Russians do a major break through and Ukraine may loose tons of land in matter of a week.

@cv990a4 Russia is doing well - like I said - they have maybe 40k deployed, recently got another 60k contract troops and have at least another 100k tucked away. So they indeed have 200k - plenty for a very long operation & for taking more and more land. This is why we can see Ukraine lost this war. In the unlikely event of some miracle happening on Ukrainian side Russia can simply mobilize, partially or fully. Finally, contract soldiers are will not "walk away" as many have just signed up - you do not sign up for a war to quit it few weeks later ;) I am sure they are exceptions, but I assume few and far in between. As you can see there is no possible scenario where Russia runs out.

@cv990a4 If that was true Russia would not have had deployed only like 20% of the available force ;) Why they would already won? They would need to throw all they got to push harder and take heavy losses. It is much more economical to let artillery cream Ukrainians and let DPR / LPR / Chechens / Wagner etc. do the fight. I think you do not get it. Russia has less troops deployed in Ukraine then US had in Iraq. When you say "they could deploy more" same could be said of US - why US did not deploy more? They did have surge in Afghanistan - they still lost. Why US lost in Vietnam - they could have deployed more! Russia is winning the war with what it has deployed right now - no need to deploy more unless you start to loose. Besides by keeping 1000s at home you can always scare Ukraine of the "next big attack". Keep them on their toes. They know you have massive reserves. As for prisons - Ukraine did the same long time ago. No one mentions desperation there! Russia increased age... no one mentions Ukraine did the same!

Where? Its on Twitter. Works well - moving forward! In reality Russia and allies started their own offensive in the area and captured multiple towns threatening city of Mikolayev. So "counter offensive" is more Russian thing which may end up with either taking the city or at least blocking it. Total failure for Ukraine. How on earth phase three is Ukraine "initiative" when Russia and allies are moving forward??? Is this a joke? Finally, if Russian logistics is so bad how on Earth do they manage to push Ukrainians off in Kherson? HOW??? Magic?

LOL, so far it looks like Russia is going to surround a lot of troops to the west of Kherson. They only have 1 bridge and 3 roads. Russia already is attacking that bridge. 3 roads are 10km away from Russian troops.

@christophercousins184 West of Kherson as in moved to the border of the region south side and moved within 15km max of the Nikolayev city proper and within less then 10km of full cut off of all supplies in the north. If Russia and allies cut this off and blow ONE bridge a whole southern group of UA forces will be surrounded.

@deeptime5581 Russia has no issues with supply lines now, did not for around 5 months now. Not sure about Ukraine. But given slow operations I say no issues as well. On the other front through Ukraine will freeze and so will rest of Europe. Not sure whatever you mean that.

I showed you mine. You want what, a date stamp??? A local newspaper with an image of the date? What would convince you? As many other pp you believe not on the facts on the ground but some BS "trust me bro" claims - Russia is on the offensive in Kherson. Even Ukraine admitted loosing towns (not all) you can look at the map - even pro Ukraine one. But I guess you just ignore facts and believe bridges are cut off and Russia uses "magic" to move in supplies.

@terjeoseberg990 What other damage - HIMARS are small rockets - this is the damage done. You can find more videos online if you want different angle. Or more full video. I do have a degree, maybe not in bridge building but I do understand how they are constructed and its not rocket science. Humans have build massive bridges since Roman times. Columns support a deck. Deck is made of sections. You replace sections that are damaged and its as good as new. To cause real damage you would need to take out the columns - which is very difficult. With deck heavily damaged you cannot easily drive on it but its not a very difficult or time consuming repair.

But they cannot withdraw. That is the problem - Crimea is Russia. Donbass is more or less Russia as well. They cannot "move back home" - they are home. So even if this war last 100 years we still be at war 100 years from now! Attack on other EU countries is possible even today if that means the Baltics - they are severely discriminating Russians there - far more then the Serbs did in Kosovo. I expect soon to see massive expulsions of population (i.e. driving people to the border by force). We already see people "loosing permanent residency permit" and other antics. Note two out of the three countries did not give citizenship to "ethnic Russians" after fall of Soviet Union so they have far more "non citizens" then say USA. Its a mess but they are "friendly countries" so EU / US ignores this clear violation of both EU laws and UN rights. Similar to Saudi Arabia.

@thoughttransmitter5555 You do not understand - in 100 years there will be Russians (or Ukrainians that do not like Kiev) willing to defend their homes as well! You cannot be on moral high ground when you say to people that they need to move out of their homes and they cannot decide their future. Using you British example, the UK is wise enough to allow referendum for Scotland to leave. If Scots vote yes, do you expect tanks to roll in - if yes, then you are pro Ukraine. If you expect UK to give these people freedom, then you are pro Russia. Pick one. Baltic states were independent nations and have a slim majority of say Estonians in their country. Their treatment of Russian minority is starting to look like treatment of Jews before holocaust. Yet no one in EU points that out. Guess lessons of Nazism did not stick too well with the west. How can "Russia withdraw" - you assume these pp will leave their homes so occupying Ukrainian army can march in? Really? Would you leave your home??? As for IRA conflict - again, this is an example HOW TO SOLVE THINGS. Maybe you should print it out and send it to Kiev huh? Look how well UK solved the issue - if they were like Ukraine or Estonia they would terrorize Irish even more and send even more tanks. But UK was wise to figure out a solution. UK is an example of how "we can solve it at home" but God forbid others can solve it - we do not support. Or US "we do not support democracy other then at home" idea.

@Lasse65 Ukraine before the war, as per Ukraine had 37m. Out of that 37m more then 7m left the country. Out of the reminder a lot of men and women are in territories freshly occupied by Russians. So what is left? 28m? 27m? And do you think the pp will just watch 1000s killed per day? And are all these able bodied men? Realistically Ukraine can rise up maybe over a million. So within few years they loose most of these. Russia recruited another 60k or so troops recently and trained some / many. That is about 2x++ more then currently deployed troops!!! US also raised the age during times of conflict! So what - its natural thing to do. Having more possible pp is a good thing. Russia is not running out of troops anytime soon. Besides - they can always mobilize.

@Lasse65 Ukraine government knows how many tax payers it has. So its 37m. Period. Why would we remove women and children - they come with husbands as well ;) There are no 6 million. Not from such a small country. Germany during WWII in 1943 had just under 7m troops. And that is from just over 110m people (!) So we use about 6% of the population as our "peak". Which also nicely translates to sizes of other armies (allies). as per my calculus Ukraine has at most 28m or even maybe less now. So their top strength is at most around 1.7m. And that is at most. Realistically they be lucky to even get to half that number. Realistically they loose at least 1000 per day as casualties. Even if some come back we are talking about loosing at least 300k per year. At least. So they will be done at current rate in less then 3 years. I think Russia can live with 3 years. Maybe 4 years if they bring a lot of women in.

@davidfaraday7963 If the movement was so strong war would not last as long as it did! So I call total BS on "could not deploy more" yet could fight a war for... wait for it a decade! (this does not count the almost 10 years when US was not involved directly). So for 10 years the "anti-war movement back home was becoming too much even for the pentagon" is a bit ... off. Note that at peak US had more then 1/2 million people serving in Vietnam at a time. If we adjust for population this would place Russia at around 400k+ serving which is more then triple its current capability! As you can see, clearly you over estimate the power of anti war movement!

Russia just moved into advance and attack in Kherson and has captured multiple towns in last 48h. They are trying to disable single supply bridge for Ukraine and if they advance 10km in the north they cut off any land supply route. So I wonder if Ukraine will loose next big city in the region.
