One has to remember that it was Cuba with help from Soviets that brought freedom to large parts of Africa. Imperialists were defeated & slavery ended. Hats off to Cuba - for no gain of their own, just to bring freedom to the people. Sometimes communists do stick to their principles.

@patrickklocek3332 No. They did not. They only ended slavery in their own countries - but not in their colonies where they were doing great. Hence why spread of communism in both Africa and Asia.

Certainly US was not all ideal when they helped liberate France but the alternative was far and wide worse. Cubans were not ideal either - but they did brought freedom to the people. Same as Vietnamese did in their country.

Strange Cuba brought freedom to Africa but not at home, exact opposite of US, where they have freedom at home but deny it abroad.

@nicopohl2060 If communism was slavery it would not be embraced by slave nations as a way out of it. Principles of communism were equality - problems were in implementation.

@konfunable It is up to African people to build their country - not anyone else - they were free to grow it, their choice not to.

@JosePineda-cy6om You know Fins were part of mother Russia as a dutchy thus they had rather strong links to Russia as well as rest of Scandinavia.

@nicopohl2060 Every country in the world is becoming more and more socialist, even the US. All of Europe embraced socialism and they are fine, some even very fine. Switzerland is quite socialist, with wealth tax, yet it is consistently either at the #1 or #2 spot as far as total wealth per capita is considered.

@nicopohl2060 No I am not. In market socialism people co-own means of production. As the government expands its ownership of services it expands the economy based on co-owned production. I.e. the bigger the public sector the bigger the socialist based economy. Swiss are close to what is called a Social Democracy - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_democracy there is also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_model As you can see we have plenty of socialist countries and they actually score better in say press freedom then US - they certainly are seen as far less tyrannical then US.

@nicopohl2060 I was born under socialist regime in Poland. I now live in Canada. I can assure you when you compare apples to apples Canada is more socialist today then early 1980s Poland.

@matthew1882 Certainly better then it did under occupation.
