  1. China is too smart to easily get dragged into a cold war style race - they just make what they need for pure defense. China knows it has the future - if it plays ball. It knows it will exceed US in real $$$ in a decade or so. All it needs to 2050 is to be 1.5x US economy +- few years. Once it is much bigger then and only then it will drag small US into arms race.
