  1. When I flown from Canada to China I was with Canadian businessman also in electronics (motor control). He told me they are investing in a factory run by them in China so they have better control over the product. He explained to me that electronics made in Canada and US is plain garbage, but all people making electronics in US and Canada sure are masters of complaining. Especially when their "factory" is the size of a bathroom in Chinese factory. Defect rate for much more expensive US / Canadian products was few times more than Chinese cheap stuff. Yep, cannot compete with China if your product costs 3x as much and breaks down 3x as often!

  2. There is no problem with buying quality Chinese products - especially Chinese electronics. Chinese products are made in two sets, ones that compete on price and ones that compete on quality. Just go for quality - and avoid cheap stuff.
