  1. Wait it was not "first" - Soviets were the first & fastest just that "first" cost them a lot in noise and reliability. The reason both supersonic jets were failures is simple - with current technology it simply costs WAY too much to fly supersonic vs. subsonic. Not only there are cost problems there are where can you fly problems - you can only go supersonic over water (it is noise thing - related to sonic boom - no tech will change physics).
