  1. This thing was good enough for a trainer. Nothing much more. Remember that MiG-21 also was designed in 1955 and also introduced in 1959 - same years - contemporary to it construction. Granted MiG was an interceptor but light years ahead of Gnat. This is why 25x more MiGs were made. Telling is when India retired Gnat and the fact they are still working on retiring upgraded MiG-21s.
