Nah, soviets just changed the gague - epic waste was present but usually later on in time of peace. For example a truck with diesel came in to collective farm - but they were full.... so a lot of diesel that could not be sold on black market got dumped into a trench. In Poland they dumped so much fuel next to their base people started digging makeshift oil wells (this is not BS).

This ignores the fact that Soviet soldier simply did not have even close to the logistic needs of a German soldier. All he needed for food was some dried fish and off he went. Fish could also serve as a weapon - knife or thawing weapon when frozen. Did not need cover, could be carried on the outside. Soviet horses did not need "Stables" - they never seen these things in their lives. In fact most Soviet soldiers only seen the fish and some potatoes as "food" - anything above that was "luxury". Soviet troops also did not need for example "clothing" - they used some scraps to wrap around their legs instead of socks, used boots they won in combat against the enemy & some rope as "belt". The overall view was similar to a lot of "homeless" people, half dead from hunger, dirty with Mosin as their trustworthy weapon. Many winter battles were fought over food and shelter - no one cared about anything else. Any alcohol found with less then about 50% was seen as "tea" - especially if said color. Cigarettes were made with some newspaper and low quality tabacco like grass.
