Comments by "" (@tomk3732) on "[ Battle of Mariupol ] Ukrainian forces refused surrender offer; DPR Ldr confirms Azovstal not taken" video.
it has to be seen in the context of a) Mariupol had mostly Russian population and is to be main port city of DPR - so why destroy it completely b) Azov is NAZI and killing them is one of main goals of the war c) the sooner Mariupol falls the sooner encirclement of army of Donbass can start and thus end of the war so its a) + c) vs. b)

3:1 in a city is low. I would start with 5:1 and go up from there. So Russians have at least 20k troops in Mariupol at the moment. Fight can go on for few more weeks, but lets not expect more - compare battle of Grozny - against battle hardened Chechens - 5 weeks. compare battle of Falujah against ISIS - 6 weeks. We are almost at week 3. So more then two weeks would be rather slow advance.

@slythewhyissilent I think they already did. AzovStal is a factory. No one is going to scream that they are bombing a school or kindergarten or a mall. They can fire away as much as they want. As much as their logistics can sustain. They can fire from ships.

@DefensePoliticsAsia If that was true both eastern front and Mariupol fall would be roughly at the same time. We see. The whole thing is very foggy. I mean Ukraine just (again) retaken a town near Kiev I thought they never lost.

@jasonbrittain3316 Well, I don't know. Maybe. I recon that there are a lot of troops. There were supposedly 2500 Nazi Azov troops and 1500 regular Ukrainians at the beginning. Maybe. Russians claim "thousands". How many Russians? I recon up to 20k. If it was all DPR and LPR that would be like half of their regular force - so a bit extreme. Info is both republics have 40k regular and 30k conscript - so total of 70k. All fog of war.
