  1. Neither they nor US is stupid enough to pay - it would mean they would be less competitive. In China you can get subsidies for high price of energy - in Canada you get a tax. This is why Canadian GDP is falling vs. rest of the world - see latest stats - then see stats from say 2010 or even 2015.

  2. With JT at the helm and his virtue signaling expect the gap between average Canadian and average American to widen. Few years ago, before we had JT as our leader US was only slightly ahead of Canada in GDP per capita. Now it is around 40%. IMF US is at 68,309 in 2021 vs. 49,222 for Canada nominal. Canada 24th US is 9th. I.e. JT policies are making us poor and thus greener.
