@Shrouded_reaper These are "green guys" they inflate price of a shingle roof by factor of 10x to make it look cool. No one question them as iSheep never worked with their hands in entire life so have no idea how much stuff costs.

@joshuatayloe8616 I computed that install of standard shingle would cost 42k USD on a roof of a house in the at least 15000 sqft range. If your house is a bungalow that is 15000 sq ft I doubt that you care about cost - analysis. Tesla roof is cool and you get it or not cool and get something else.

That what regular glass does already. You need rather large rock to chip a windshield. Trust me I live in Alberta we get chip every year. About 50% of the time I can see the rock coming.

Shingle roof done by a roofer on a 3000sq ft home turnkey should be at most 8000 if you shop around - at most - premium. Tesla roof 10x as much.

Clearly this is done for the millionaires. My roof, done by a roofer in a long day costs to replace under 2000 USD including 25y shingles that should last at least 15y. Even for a larger home, say 2000sqft one it is still like under 4000 USD all in. So a very large home but not a mansion of say 5000sqft is around 10000. Now lets upgrade from shingles to say metal and it doubles. So I have no clue where these "other" numers come from or whom is paying 40k for a roof!

Options for millionaires. Us simple folks have a Honda inverter generator in the shed and in case of a blackout I run this to the fridge and few lights. Total cost is like 600 USD or so. For winter backup I have white has heater and also can add propane heater. Running whole house off solar and battery pack seems like a cool idea but I doubt these packs last > 10 years. Overall the return on investment is very negative - not only will it never pay for itself you end up loosing a lot of $$$. If I had to use a battery I would get LG cells from China and build my own - cheaper and no ugly Tesla logo.

Well there is also a thing called metal glass - i.e. metal that is glass - i.e. glass is a state. Main problem with this armor glass is that current cars and trucks already have very, very damage resistant glass. Try to go to a junk yard and break a window - go ahead - see how "easy" it is. In fact current car windows can deflect low energy bullets or greatly decrease penetration - see videos on youtube of actual rounds fired at junked cars. So why not a stronger glass? Notice that glass windows need to break - you don't want indestructible windows in case of an accident. One can also go with something like gorilla glass used on phones - the actual ceramic is the future of phone glass but not so much cars.
