In short the laminate was scary to be used ONCE and discarded after such single use. Using it more than once led to a disaster. Or after a single use it should be derated by a factor of 2 and then by another 2 after another use. It is strange that plywood analogy was not seen by engineers - it clearly was - I refuse to believe multiple people did not know glue will eventually under cyclic load break down - heck there are examples of others using such designs only once for that reason - so if others knew these guys would have seen it as well - even as part of research. This leads to inconvenient truths simply being ignored.

Notice that all parts that were engineered survived. Some things were so poorly done that they would rise eyebrows of average man, not engineer. No testing done... Feels like someone had a death wish.

Sounds like a hack job that may be OK in say non human life systems or non critical systems. The weakness areas and corresponding problems for sure were not accounted in basic load analysis they have done... Shocking small amount of testing == no testing ;)

Yes and no. I worked in healthcare programming. We had procedure to go around programming issues. This usually involved multiple layers of alerts and backups. We made sure it is easy to see that a process failed. Iterative programming without safety is fine for non life critical stuff. It feels Stockton did not feel that if it fails people die, he did not get it.

What is important is not actual engineering powers but ability to talk to people. See Musk or Jobs etc.

I would not call the guy smart. I mean issues were super easy to see. It may be fine for processes that were not involving human life or safety.

You don't need to be an engineer to see this.
