Sure it did - multiple times. See Armenia - AZ war. See US - Iraq war (1st). War is politics through use of force.

Nah, the surrender is for PR purposes - seen plenty of videos where Ukrainians shoot and kill wounded helpless Russians. Few days ago two BMP-1 vehicles and 10 Ukrainians surrendered on video - most of the 10 were wounded. Russians did not kill them. This is a forward observation position - I think it was manned by militia - it was highly publicized about two or three weeks ago, near Bakhmut where a Russian squad run away from single UA tank. Ukrainians attacked same line now for few weeks without success. I am unsure as to whatever this is one single video or actually two videos from two different time periods stitched together. It feels its a new video and a few weeks old video.

Its everyone's fault. But mostly its fault of Ukraine for not looking out for its own interests but rather that of foreign power (US). This is not isolated case of stupidity - but its clear in Ukraine.
7
Putin so far has far better economic outlook than say UK - with economic growth predicted to be 4x bigger than UK (!) So I would not count on west "neutering" Russia anytime soon.
4
Not sure how the Wagner issue can help end the war. It is almost of no help to either side. Ukraine is clearly loosing the war & we are seeing Russia preparing for major offensive in the next 4 weeks. If Russian offensive goes well - we may see Kiev collapse this year!
4
I was under impression he would attack by June / July time frame, after pushing Ukraine more. But I guess he decided that waiting will not change much so went for earlier attack. He indeed had not much of a choice, either in short term or long term. Diplomacy failed and military measures had to be utilized. Same as with Iraq, US tried diplomacy, but it failed, so US invaded.
4
They cannot push Russians out of Kherson - they tried multiple times. Russia may move out by themselves once they finalize new border - they are now resurrecting old Russian empire province, that is on the river.
3
Yes, whopping 4 villages and all 4 have less then 20 houses each.
3
Nah, far and wide more likely is Nikoliv will be taken.
3
Now continue that line of thought. If Russia lost half of its army yet they continue to advance, how much did Ukraine loose?
3
Nah a lot of them have their families right behind them so they cannot run.
3
So what are Ukrainian losses? 60%? Many brigades are battalion sized or smaller - so must be at least 60%.
3
Russia moved now more in two weeks that Ukraine in their whole counter offensive.
3
Russian proposal to give up Crimea and Donbass is dead. Now Ukraine has to give up more for any chance at peace.

@Nunya9876 What diplomatic solutions??? All diplomatic channels were exhausted and Ukraine / West refused to negotiate or negotiated in bad faith. What danger to NATO - last time I checked NATO was aggressive alliance that does not care about sovereign states at all & uses international law for toilet paper. Most of the world does not recognize western court in the Hague as "international" and there is nothing international about it - it is about as international as a court in Moscow is or one in Beijing. Maybe NATO (US) should have stayed within its borders as well? Maybe NATO should stop constantly invading sovereign nations and overthrown governments - not that would be a bright idea. Ukraine is already part of UN no need to join. As for joining NATO it will never do that while Russia is still a country. I mean listen to yourself - a war is fought over joining NATO a "defensive" alliance ;) If it was indeed so defensive why would everyone be so scared of it ;) Also NATO is US, it is US and countries it controls.

@simongleed LOL! So I guess was Hitler or Stalin, right?
2
Same for Ukraine. But Kiev did not.
2
Not sure this was planned but Russian offensive looks certain.
2
And yet they managed to cause Donbass defenses to collapse! Amazing job, so few, yet so powerful!
2
But they did not. Less then 10% followed the figure head. Maybe even less than 5%.
2
At current rate whole Donbass salient will collapse in like few days. Maybe Ukraine should work on that first ;)
2
Soon we see 50% and then 66%. By end of summer it will be 110%
2
But Russians are moving deeper and deeper every day. New villages and towns are falling.
2
20k - 30k KIA plus 3x as many wounded.
2
It was not Putin, it was US.
2
They are loosing 10000 KIA per month - double that at least by factor of 2 for WIA that cannot return. Max mobilization potential is about 1.2m, realistic is around 1m. They are already past their peak.
2
Ukraine losses are at least 2x Russian losses.
2
Yes and this is why Donbass is fought over - for peace and harmony - without Kiev regime.
2
@edmundpasan529 Does that include Ukrainians fighting for freedom of Donbass against Kiev regime? Or is this some kind of "one way" democracy? Also Ukraine is not a democracy - they have one party, one leader with shadows and they fully do not embrace most values of UN / EU.
2
Why? Most hard core Ukrainians already left. Most residents that stayed are pro Russian.
2
@rockrabbit253 Negative, they have not lost any territory in about a month in Donbas. Every day they move only forward.
2
Sure, they do not have to give up an inch. But its not for them to decide.
2
Did Russia or even Soviets ever threaten Fins or demanded land etc. Nope. Never. Are there any claims? No. So Fins joining NATO only means they are getting giant Target over their heads.
2
Well, in such war stronger will win - i.e. Russia.
2
God bless defenders of Donbass - Freedom is forever!
2
Ukraine will never allow a referendum as they would loose all that territory.
2
They asked! But US said they have to dance like an obedient bear and it did not go well in Moscow.
2
Problem is that Russians are more motivated then Ukrainians. So maybe its a good idea to drop such leaflets on UA side?
1
But they are in Orc land - maybe Ukies should move to Kiev!
1
Problem is that they failed miserably at this objective. They have taken exactly zero large villages lost 100s of armored vehicles and 1000s of soldiers. They been totally out maneuvered by the Russians.
1
Well, soon we say "was".
1
I see better solution - let Ukrainians move back to Ukraine!
1
Umm, they are loosing so far.
1
Come on, they can see it on a post card?
1
About 500. Russia holds well over 2000 Ukrainians.
1
They did like 100 counter offensives already. All failed. Except on Twitter. Here they have 100 victories.
1
So far Russians did very, very well and Ukrainians did very, very poorly.
1
@stephenclues2948 Who will pay these? Ukraine or Russia or EU or US? And by what right?
1
@stephenclues2948 Oh, so US owns then more then its worth.
1
@Manuel-gu9ls Russia needs to win, not for the future of people of Donbass, no, for the future of all people on earth - to show that freedom will prevail.
